Sirens: 'Old Cowboy' Causes a Scene; Drugs Reported at School; Vehicle Versus Bicyclist

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and M Street at 10:10 a.m. on Dec. 7.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West First streets just after 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 7.

 

Vehicle Theft

• A gray 2008 Pontiac G6 was reported stolen from the 200 block of East Chestnut Street just before 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 7.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Trespassed From Property

• A man who “refers to himself as ‘Old Cowboy’” reportedly came into a business he was trespassed from in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7:55 a.m. on Dec. 7 and said “I’m gonna do something, you need to call the cops” before “screaming at customers” outside the business. When contacted by officers, he reportedly says he had “no recollection of being trespassed” from the business and was issued a warning.

• A woman who was reportedly “yelling at customers” at a restaurant in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1 p.m. on Dec. 7 was trespassed from the business.

• A subject who reportedly attempted to shoplift from a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 7 was trespassed from the business.

• Two subjects were trespassed from a property in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at midnight on Dec. 8.

• A subject was trespassed from a property in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 8.

 

Disputes

• A possible assault where a man was reportedly chasing another man “and hitting him” was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and West Main Street at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 7. No arrests were made.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Dec. 8.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Dec. 8.

 



Suspicious Person

• A subject described by the reporting party as a “sketchy dude with a mask and a backpack” who was reportedly walking around outside W.F. West High School just before 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 7 with “cuts all over his face” and “an ax in his backpack” was issued a criminal citation.

 

Theft

• A generator was reported stolen from the 2100 block of Southwest Salsbury Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 7.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:10 p.m. on Dec. 7.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 8.

 

Drug Violation

• Just after 8:55 p.m. on Dec. 7, a caller reported a fourth-grade student at Orin Smith Elementary School possibly offered rainbow fentanyl to other students at the school during recess. The reporting party had “no specific info other than the kid offering rainbow-looking candy to others during recess,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. Officers contacted school security.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A vehicle reportedly hit a bus in the 900 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue just before 8:10 a.m. on Dec. 8 and fled the scene.

 

Vehicle Versus Bicyclist

• A vehicle versus bicyclist collision was reported at the intersection of state Route 6 and Southwest Riverside Drive at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Dec. 8. No injuries were reported.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 146 inmates, including 132 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
