Arrests
• Kevin M. Olney, 41, of Lacey, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail at about 11:54 a.m. July 17 on the charge of physical control after he was contacted behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while suspected of being intoxicated by alcohol in the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road.
Hit-and-Run
• A hit-and-run collision was reported at around 5:49 p.m. July 16 in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue. This case remains under investigation.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Burglary
• Issues with people stealing things at night were reported in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue, with the caller discovering more items taken at around 2:35 p.m. July 15.
Malicious Mischief
• A caller informed the Chehalis Police Department of a Honda Pilot’s broken windshield at about 7:32 p.m. July 15 in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue. It is currently unknown if anything is missing.
Possible Scam
• A resident reported a scam where she received a call from an individual claiming to be the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at around 7:32 p.m. July 15. The resident contacted the sheriff’s office, which stated the call was not from them. No funds were pulled from her account.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 184 inmates, including 170 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 146 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.
