Sirens: Robbery; Counterfeiting; Morton and Mossyrock Reports; Drug Violation

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Robbery

• An unidentified subject or subjects reportedly stole merchandise from a business in the 140 block of West High Street and hit a witness with their vehicle as they fled the scene. The witness sustained a possible injury to his hand. The case is under investigation.

• A woman reportedly tried to steal a package from an apartment complex in the 700 block of H Street at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 11 and assaulted the parcel’s owner, who had confronted the woman before fleeing the area. A short time later, a man who officers identified as “possibly (the) boyfriend” of the woman who stole the package allegedly returned to the scene and assaulted the parcel’s owner. The victim sustained minor injuries. The case is under investigation.

 

Other Theft

• Just after 9:35 a.m. on Oct. 10, a caller in the 100 block of West Main Street reported money was stolen from an account. The case is under investigation.

• A political sign was reported stolen from a yard in the 700 block of G Street at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Oct. 10.

• A tire was reportedly shoplifted from a business in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:20 p.m. on Oct. 10.

 

Drug Violation

• A Rochester woman was arrested in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute after officers located scales, narcotics and packaging materials during a search of the vehicle she was in.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Egg stains were reported on the side of a residence in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 10.

• At 3:25 a.m. on Oct. 11, slashing damage to four vehicle tires that occurred sometime overnight was reported.

• Spray painted graffiti was reported on a metal phone line box at the intersection of West Third and F streets at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Oct. 11.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A minor, non-injury two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street just before 10:25 a.m. on Oct. 11.

• Minor injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and southbound Interstate 5 just before 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 11. A vehicle reportedly failed to stop at a red light onto Harrison Avenue and collided with another vehicle crossing Harrison Avenue on the collector distributor lanes.

• Possible minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 11. One vehicle reportedly failed to stop and collided with another vehicle from behind.

 

Trespassing

• A disorderly subject was trespassed from a business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 11.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Counterfeiting

  Just before 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 11, a caller in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue requested to turn in a $100 bill they received over the weekend.

  A fraudulent $100 bill was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on Oct. 11 just before midnight.

 

Other Theft

• At 8:55 a.m. on Oct. 10, a bike was reported stolen from the 10 block of Southwest Fifth Street sometime overnight.

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 10. The suspect reportedly left behind a backpack containing “different cards and IDs.”

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen off of a vehicle in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 8:20 a.m. on Oct. 11.

• Just after 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 11, a vehicle prowl that occurred sometime over the weekend was reported.

• A backpack was reported stolen from the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 11.

 

Harassment

• A man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail following a report made at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 10 that he called a store in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue “pretending to be an officer” and was trying to get information on his ex-girlfriend, who was an employee at the store.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 11:55 a.m. on Oct. 10.



 

Dispute

• A possible physical dispute between juveniles was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 5 p.m. on Oct. 10.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:25 p.m. on Oct. 11.

  A possible physical dispute was reported at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest Fifth Street just after 5:50 a.m. on Oct. 12.

 

Assault

• A subject was arrested in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault. The case is under investigation.

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 7:05 p.m. on Oct. 10 is under investigation.

 

Trespassing

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just before 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.

• A man who reportedly “pulled a knife on another customer” at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 was trespassed from the property.

• Just after 3:55 p.m. on Oct. 11, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street reported a woman “dressed in a purple wig (with) barely any clothes on” was “grinding on a pole playing loud music” alongside a man. The caller asked that they be moved along “away from all the kids” on the playground.

 

Death Investigation

A death reported in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive just after 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 is under investigation.

 

MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents

• Just before 7:05 p.m. on Oct. 1, an officer was dispatched to look for a black dog that was running across U.S. Highway 12 in the vicinity of Seasons Motel in Morton. The officer drove for approximately 30 minutes on Westlake Avenue and U.S. Highway 12 and did not locate any dog that was running about freely.

• An officer was dispatched to a report of an illegal burn in the 100 block on Seventh Street just after 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 1. The officer did not find a fire, but did see a fire pit in the backyard. The officer asked two men exiting a trailer near the fire pit whether they had been burning in the pit, and they responded that they had, but put out the fire when they learned there was a burn ban. The officer instructed them not to reignite the fire pit until the ban was lifted.

• An officer received a report of a possible dispute in the 100 block of Third Street just before 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. The officer contacted the local community member and approached and stated he could also hear yelling. The officer made contact and determined “the family was being loud” and “had video games being played exceptionally loud with windows open.”

• A possible phone harassment case was reported just before 10:10 a.m. on Oct. 5.

• An accidental alarm at Arbor Health Morton Hospital's emergency room occurred just before 3:10 p.m. on Oct. 5.

• An officer received a report of an assault in the 500 block of Main Avenue just after 9 a.m. on Oct. 6. No injuries were reported. The officer advised “the two parties should stay away from each other.”

• A driver was issued a citation for driving 35 mph in a 25 mph zone near Division and Second streets just after 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 7.

 

Mossyrock Incidents

• Just after 10:50 p.m. on Oct. 3, a caller in the 700 block of William Street reported “there was someone in her kitchen” and said she thought “they were there to rob her.” Officers checked the caller’s home and, aside from the caller, found no one inside.

• A harassment issue was reported in the 300 block of East Main Street just before 12:35 p.m. on Oct. 4.

  A possible theft was reported just before 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 4. The officer was unable to contact the reporting party for followup.

• A “civil matter” was reported just after 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 5. 

• While an officer was on duty in the city of Mossyrock, the officer observed a driver not coming to a full complete stop at the intersection of Main Street and Williams Avenue. The driver continued north on Williams Avenue and the officer activated the overhead lights indicating a traffic stop. The driver came to a stop at Laurel and Williams. The officer “informed the driver she would be receiving a documented warning for the offense and spoke with her about driving safely,” then informed the driver she was free to go.

• Just after 10 p.m. on Oct. 8, an officer assisted a Washington State Patrol trooper with a child that was locked inside a vehicle The child was safely removed.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 181 inmates, including 167 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 141 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
