Sentencings
• Jeremy J. Kelley, 41, Centralia, was sentenced Aug. 21 to 43 months in prison and 36 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of failure to register as a sex offender. An additional charge was dismissed. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/5h4u3kmj.
Preliminary appearances
• Seth A. Fetters, 29, Toledo, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 24 for one count of unlawful imprisonment (domestic violence) following an alleged dispute inside a vehicle. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond and granted the state’s request for a no-contact order on behalf of the alleged victim. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Aug. 27.
• Martin K. Houser, 74, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 24 for one count of felony harassment (domestic violence) after he allegedly threatened to kill his son’s wife during an argument. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond and granted the state’s request for a no-contact order on behalf of the alleged victim, as well as an order for Houser to surrender any dangerous weapons within his possession. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Aug. 27.
• Michael J. Polnett Jr., 20, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 25 for one count of second-degree assault after he was charged this month for allegedly attacking another incarcerated individual at Green Hill School on July 5, 2025. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Aug. 27. Polnett remains in custody at Green Hill School.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Uriah W. Osborne, 30, Chehalis, was arrested in the 100 block of North Cedar Street at about 2:46 p.m. Aug. 24 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant. Osborne was also booked for allegedly escaping community custody.
Drug possession
• Gregory M. Krueger, 50, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Prior to his arrest, Krueger had been identified as the alleged purchaser of suspected methamphetamine in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 2:27 p.m. Aug. 23. Officers reportedly obtained a search warrant for Krueger’s vehicle and located drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine inside.
Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run collision was reported at the corner of Harrison Avenue and East High Street at about 4:10 p.m. Aug. 24. Police said the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a theft at a local store minutes before the incident. The suspect reportedly fled north on Interstate 5. Officers are trying to identify the suspect.
Malicious mischief
• A juvenile was arrested after causing damage to their parent’s vehicle in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue at about 6:32 p.m. Aug. 24.
Theft
• A theft from several days ago was reported in the 1500 block of Lum Road at about 1:53 p.m. Aug. 24. The case is under investigation.
• A wallet was reported stolen in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at about 1:55 p.m. Aug. 24. The case is under investigation.
• Theft from a local store was reported in the 100 block of West High Street at about 4:01 p.m. Aug. 24. The case is under investigation.
Vehicle prowl
• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue at about 10:03 a.m. Aug. 24. There was no suspect information at the time.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests and citations
• Martin K. Houser, 74, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged felony harassment (domestic violence) in the 800 block of Southwest 20th Street at about 1:19 p.m. Aug. 21.
• Bryan J. Hill, 34, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged disorderly conduct in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at about 3:19 p.m. Aug. 22.
• Teresa L. Leys, 57, was issued a criminal citation for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 2000 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at about 10:28 p.m. Aug. 23.
• Debbie K. Leonard was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) in the 10 block of Southwest 17th Street at about 7:56 p.m. Aug. 25.
• Joseph K. Hansen, 32, was issued a criminal citation for alleged physical control of a vehicle while under the influence and possession of a controlled substance in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at about 8:39 p.m. Aug. 25.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported near Northwest Louisiana Avenue and state Route 6 at about 2:44 p.m. Aug. 22.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Aug. 26, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 158 inmates, including 145 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 35 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Aug. 26, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 14 inmates. Of those, three were from Centralia, one was from Elma and five were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were one each from the Lummi Nation, the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Chehalis Tribal Court.
