Sirens: Sex Offenses Investigated; Teens Throw Eggs; DUI Arrest; Burglary; Criminal Trespassing

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Impersonation 

 • A Centralia woman was arrested in the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue at approximately 10:40 a.m. on April 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding municipal court warrant and for allegedly giving a false name to an officer. 

 

Sex Offenses 

• A case involving communication with a minor for immoral purposes reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 1:55 p.m. on April 19 is under investigation. A 20-year-old male allegedly communicated with a female under the age of 16. 

• Officers are investigating a case reported at approximately 1:40 p.m. on April 20 in the 800 block of South Gold Street near Washington Elementary School where a student was reportedly passing out nude photos of another student.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:15 p.m. on April 19. 

 

Burglary 

• Damian G. Childers, 24, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1400 block of Johnson Road just after 4:20 p.m. on April 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged first-degree burglary, domestic violence. The charge was filed on Thursday in Lewis County Superior Court. Childer’s bail has been set at $25,000. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, April 27. 

 

Vicious Dog 

• A dog reportedly bit a 6-year-old, causing minor injuries, at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Scammon Creek Road just after 7:05 p.m. on April 19. The dog has been quarantined while the investigation is ongoing. 

 

Assault 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1600 block of Eshom Road just after 7:30 p.m. on April 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Theft 

• A wallet was reported stolen at a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:55 p.m. on April 19. 

• A cellphone was reported stolen from a library in the 100 block of South Silver Street at approximately 3:05 p.m. on April 20. 

• Credit cards were reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 5:10 p.m. on April 20. A male suspect reportedly stole the cards and began using them at different places. The case is under investigation. 

• At approximately 5:40 p.m. on April 20, a caller reported someone had put trash in their trash can in the 200 block of Buckner Street without their permission. 

• Charges against a 16-year-old accused of stealing alcohol from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:40 p.m. on April 20 have been referred to a local prosecutor’s office. 

• A black bike with green paint was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 8:50 p.m. on April 20. 

• A four-wheeler was reported stolen out of the back of a pickup in the 1300 block of Alexander Street just after 6:10 a.m. on April 21. 

 

Criminal Trespassing 

• Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male trying to get into vehicles in the parking lot of a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 8:05 a.m. on April 20.  The male left before officers arrived at the scene, but officers located him at another call where he was reportedly being disorderly at another business. The subject, identified as a homeless man from Tacoma, was trespassed from both businesses. After another report the male was being disorderly at a different location, the man reportedly returned to the grocery store on South Tower Avenue and was seen panhandling in the parking lot. Officers located him a few blocks away, where the man was arrested for trespassing and booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• A homeless man from Medical Lake man was arrested in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. on April 20 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing. 

• A homeless man from Winlock was reportedly swinging a hammer around in the 200 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 10:30 a.m. on April 20. Officers determined the man was not threatening anyone and no crime had been committed. At about 11 a.m. that day, he was trespassed from a convenience store in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue. 

• A man was reportedly walking on the train tracks at the intersection of Alder and Mellen streets just after 1:05 p.m. on April 20. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A homeless man was reportedly “setting up camp” at a business in the 400 block of West Main Street at approximately 1:20 p.m. on April 20. 

• A business owner in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue reportedly complained about homeless people “going in and out of their shop (and) bothering customers” just before 7:30 p.m. on April 20. Officers contacted a homeless man from Chehalis and asked him to move along. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A homeless man was reportedly “yelling at neighbors and being belligerent” in the 400 block of West Magnolia Street at 7:40 p.m. on April 20. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 



 

Wellness Check 

• Officers were asked to check on a male who was reportedly “crying while standing on the sidewalk” in the 900 block of South Pearl Street just after 8:50 a.m. on April 20. Officers contacted the man, identified as a homeless man from Yelm, who said he had just been released from the hospital and did not need any help. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Just after 11:05 a.m. on April 20, a caller reported their car tire was slashed at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and West Main Street while the caller “was having breakfast downtown.”

• A window to a vehicle in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive was reported broken just before 11:25 p.m. on April 20. 

• Just after 6:45 a.m. on April 21, a caller reported a window had been smashed out of a vehicle in the 1200 block of Alder Street and a computer inside had been stolen sometime overnight. 

 

DUI 

• Tammy L. Woodard, 53 of Centralia, was arrested in the 2700 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 2:40 a.m. on April 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A “scam to (a) bank account” was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on April 19. 

• A credit card was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce just before 7:10 p.m. on April 20. The reporting party said it was lost at the store the day prior and the card had since been used. 

• A chainsaw was reported stolen out of a truck bed in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:20 p.m. on April 20.  

 

Criminal Trespassing 

• A man who was reportedly harassing people at a property in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 3 p.m. on April 19 was trespassed from the property. Either the man or the reporting party called 911 multiple times on April 19 and insulted the dispatcher, telling a dispatcher he was “mad because (the dispatcher was) not a virgin, just a dumb tuna bucket” and told the dispatcher “he was going to come find me and turn me into (Lindsey Baum)?”  

• Officers were asked to move along a male subject outside a business in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 11:30 a.m. on April 20. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing in a vacant apartment in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at 12:35 p.m. on April 20. 

• Two subjects who were reportedly “up to no good” behind a building in the 500 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way ay 2:20 p.m. on April 20 were trespassed from the property. 

 

Vehicle Accident 

• A vehicle reportedly struck a light pole in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 4:15 p.m. on April 19. The light pole was not damaged and no injuries were reported. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:15 a.m. on April 20. 

 

Juvenile Problem 

• A group of teens were reportedly smoking in an alley in the 200 block of Southwest 15th Street at approximately 12:05 p.m. on April 20. 

• A group of teens were reportedly “throwing eggs and food at cars” at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest 11th Street just before 7:05 a.m. on April 21. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 164 inmates, including 149 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 113 were reported male and 36 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
