Sirens: Shoplifters also face drug charges; DUI arrests; man accused of assaulting family member

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Lejab Are, 39, Tumwater, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence) in the 1400 block of Logan Street at about 12:28 a.m. May 30.

• James C. Tryon, 51, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly violating an anti-harassment order in the 1400 block of Johnson Road at about 11:05 a.m. May 30.

• Manuel E. Leonzo Perez, 27, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after he was allegedly caught shoplifting in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 3:59 p.m. May 30.

• Nicholas Decker, 37, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged third-degree theft, possession of a controlled substance and use or delivery of drug paraphernalia in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 10:50 p.m. May 30. According to police, Decker allegedly shoplifted from a local business and was found with suspected methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia.

• Tonnie A. Johnson, 30, Elma, was arrested in or near the 1200 block of Lum Road at about 3:24 p.m. May 31 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree retail theft with special circumstances. According to police, Johnson allegedly stole several hundred dollars' worth of jeans from a store by using a knife to cut off security tags. Police executed a search warrant on Johnson’s vehicle, which was located outside another store in town, and recovered the stolen jeans. Police also referred Johnson for drug charges for suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia allegedly found during the search. Police said K9 Hector first alerted officers to the suspected items’ presence inside the vehicle.

• Sergio Paramo Rangel, 47, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) after allegedly assaulting and injuring a household/family member in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at about 11:57 p.m. May 31.

Accidents

• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 12:28 p.m. May 30.

• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue at about 12:54 p.m. May 30.

• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 500 block of State Street at about 6 p.m. May 30.

Criminal trespass

• A male was trespassed from a property in the 100 block of East Chestnut Street at about 1:53 p.m. May 31 after he allegedly ignored posted “no trespassing” signs and entered the property without permission.

• Kayleigh McDaniel, 39, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged first-degree criminal trespass in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at about 7:50 p.m. May 31.

DUI

• Derek Houston, 37, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor in the 3000 block of Galvin Road at about 12:30 a.m. May 31.



• Merrill Goodrich, 67, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at about 9:44 p.m. May 31.

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run collision was reported near the corner of Hillkress Street and West Hanson Street at about 9:22 p.m. May 29.

Possession of methamphetamine

• Albert L. Brown Jr., 51, Centralia, was arrested for possession of suspected narcotics in the 2200 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:06 a.m. May 29.

Protection order violation

• A suspected order violation was reported in the 2700 block of Colonial Drive at about 1:40 p.m. May 31. At the time, police could not establish probable cause for an arrest.

Theft

• Shoplifting from a local business was reported in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 7:09 p.m. May 31. No suspect information was available at the time.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Ronald Jennings was booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrant and referred for alleged possession/use of drug paraphernalia in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at about 1:51 p.m. May 28.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of June 1, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 159 inmates, including 146 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 119 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of June 1, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 15 inmates. Of those, seven were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis and four were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
