Sirens: Stolen Bike Recovered; Robbery Arrest; 'Exhibiting Odd Behavior; Indecent Exposure; Jail Statistics

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Malicious Mischief 

• At 7:50 a.m. on June 28, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported their vehicle had been keyed. 

 

Dog In Car 

• A dog was reportedly panting inside a vehicle parked in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 10:40 a.m. on June 28. The owner returned to the vehicle before law enforcement arrived. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• A woman wearing “a pink top with boobs hanging out” was reportedly looking into parked vehicles in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on June 28. 

• An “elderly white male wearing a Vietnam vet hat” driving in a roundabout at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Arkansas Way reportedly shouted “I should f—ing shoot you” at another driver at 4 p.m. on June 28. 

• Damage to the back door of a portable behind a school at the intersection of Southwest Salsbury Avenue and Southwest 20th Street was reported at 8:55 p.m. on June 28. 

 

Vehicle Accident 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Front Street and Northwest Pacific Avenue just after 4:40 p.m. on June 28. 

 

Open Container 

• At approximately 4:45 p.m. on June 28, customers at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reportedly took “their alcoholic beverage to go,” despite employees telling them they couldn’t, and left in a vehicle. 

 

Disputes 

• A man reportedly slapped a woman inside a vehicle in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 7 p.m. on June 28. The subjects later stated “they were play fighting.” 

• A physical dispute between a male and a female was reported in the 200 block of South Market Boulevard just after 11:05 p.m. on June 28. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of possible harassment was reported in the 10 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on June 28. 

 

Rape 

• A case of third-degree rape reported in the 1500 block of Rice Road at 8:40 a.m. on June 28 is under investigation. 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• A homeless person from Toledo was trespassed from a business in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:40 a.m. on June 28 for reportedly “making employees feel uncomfortable. 

• A former employee reportedly “caused a scene” at a restaurant in the 1200 block of Alder Street just after 2:55 p.m. on June 28. The restaurant owner called law enforcement with a request to have the former employee trespassed. The former employee left the scene before officers arrived. 



 

Malicious Mischief 

• Officers responded to a wooded area in the 1000 block of Seminary Hill Road at approximately 9:55 a.m. on June 28 where a large maple tree was cut down on city-owned property. The tree was being cut into pieces likely used for the making of musical instruments, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• Damage to a window in the 600 block of West Pear Street was reported just before 8:05 a.m. on June 29. 

 

Theft 

• Mail was reported stolen out of a mailbox in the 600 block of E Street at 10:45 a.m. on June 28. 

• Cash was reported stolen from a cash box outside a business in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. on June 28. The case is under investigation. 

• An $800 bicycle was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue at 4:10 p.m. on June 28 after the victim “noticed a local transient riding a bike that looked like hers in Chehalis,” according to the Centralia Police Department. When the victim went to her home in Centralia, she noticed her bike was missing and reported it stolen. Officers were able to recover the bike when they contacted the male who had been observed riding a similar bike earlier in the day. “It was not clear if the transient was the one who stole the bike or somebody else,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A white 2007 Ford F150 pickup with the Washington license plate C20511E was reported stolen from the 400 block of East Summa Street just before 6:30 p.m. on June 28. The vehicle had reportedly been parked alongside the roadway for the past couple of weeks. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound towards Salzer Valley Road with a blue plastic 55-gallon barrel in the back. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 11:20 p.m. on  June 28. An adult male and female reportedly left the store without paying for a cart full of groceries and fled the area before law enforcement arrived. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Sixth and North Pearl streets at 6:25 p.m. on June 28. One vehicle reportedly failed to yield right of way to another vehicle. The at-fault driver was issued a citation. 

  A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just before 11:50 a.m. on June 29. 

 

Robbery 

• Jeff D. Prindle, 37, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 1600 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 4 p.m. on June 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree robbery after he allegedly punched someone in the face and stole their cellphone. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, June 30 in Lewis County Superior Court. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue at 10:40 a.m. on June 29. The case is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• A “known transient from Olympia” was reportedly “exhibiting odd behavior” at the intersection of Centralia College Boulevard and South Silver Street at 8:05 a.m. on June 29. He reportedly “began running away and screaming” when officers attempted to contact him, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Indecent Exposure 

• A 56-year-old Olympia man was arrested at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and East First Street just after 4:55 p.m. on June 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for indecent exposure after he allegedly exposed his genitals to a passing motorist. He was also booked on an outstanding felony warrant. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 162 inmates, including 147 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 36 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
