CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Juvenile problem

• Officers “had to restrain and remove a juvenile from the room of a large structure” in the 200 block of East Oakview Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 24.

 

Malicious mischief

• Possible vandalism to a vehicle in the 800 block of West Pear Street reported at 4:40 p.m. on Feb. 24 is under investigation.

• A 45-year-old Centralia man was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, in the 200 block of Inglenook Drive at 8:55 p.m. on Feb. 25.

 

Theft

• A cellphone was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 24.

• A wallet containing cash and credit cards was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. on Feb. 24. The case is under investigation.

• Propane tanks were reported stolen from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Feb. 25.

• Propane tanks were reported stolen from a business in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9:50 a.m. on Feb. 25.

 

Burglary

• Jane Richards, 59, of Lacey, was arrested for allegedly breaking the window of a residence in the 300 block of South Diamond Street, breaking in and attempting to steal clothing just before 11:25 a.m. on Feb. 25. She had a preliminary hearing on felony charges scheduled for 4 p.m. on Feb. 26.

 

Drug violation

• A juvenile was found in possession of a marijuana dab pen in the 900 block of Johnson Road just before 1:10 p.m. on Feb. 25. The case is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Stolen property

• Just after 9:10 a.m. on Feb. 24, the Washington State Patrol informed Chehalis officers that a stolen firearm had been pawned in the 100 block of Sturdevant Road.

 

Scam

• A scam text message was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Second Street at 9:40 a.m. on Feb. 24.

• A scam email was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 24.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A woman reportedly wanted to press charges on “someone trying to steal her identity and stalking her” in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 11:10 a.m. on Feb. 24.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly man was reportedly “waving a hatchet” in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 24.

 

Criminal trespass



• Homeless people were reportedly camping in the 800 block of West Main Street at 4:05 p.m. on Feb. 24.

• Two disorderly subjects were trespassed from a business in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard at 5 p.m. on Feb. 24.

 

Train vs. vehicle crash

• A train reportedly struck a vehicle at the intersection of Southwest John Street and Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 24. No injuries were reported.

 

Dispute

• A neighborhood dispute involving parked cars was reported in the 700 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue at 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 24.

Harassment

• Telephonic harassment was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 25.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 25.

• A possible hit-and-run was reported in the 10 block of Southeast First Street just after 10:20 p.m. on Feb. 25.

 

Drug violation

• A subject was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 10:25 a.m. on Feb. 25. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Sentencing

• Steven Neal Schlomer, 30, entered an Alford plea to one count of indecent exposure on Feb. 24 and was sentenced to one month in prison. An Alford plea allows defendants to take advantage of a plea deal without admitting guilt.

• Darryl Wayne Normand, 59, of Centralia, pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to one count each of residential burglary and third-degree malicious mischief and was sentenced to 36.75 months in prison. He is required to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete all recommended treatment. A 10-year no-contact order prohibiting Normand from contacting the victim or going to the residence in the 100 block of South Diamond Street is in effect.

• Duane Goble, 40, of Chehalis, pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to one count each of second-degree malicious mischief and third-degree theft and was sentenced to 364 days in prison with 304 days suspended.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 59 illness-related calls, nine injury-related calls, eight fire-related calls, 12 non-emergency service calls, three vehicle accidents, one suicide-related call, one report of a dead body, one overdose and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 159 inmates, including 146 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 23 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, 11 booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe, one booked by the Cowlitz Tribe, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
