Sirens: Suspect brandishes firearm; dispute reported at bar; DUI arrest; two arrested after standoff

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Thomas J. Arias Set, 20, Chehalis, was arrested for second-degree assault and first-degree burglary (both domestic violence) after allegedly entering his partner's home and assaulting his partner in the 1800 block of Collison Street at about 9:36 a.m. June 12.

• Kennith J. Thompson, 22, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) in the 1400 block of Lewis Street at about 8:26 a.m. June 13.

• Minta A. Harrington, 52, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged felony harassment. Centralia police responded to the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at about 6:28 a.m. June 14 to investigate a reported disturbance involving a brandished firearm. According to police, the suspect had reportedly been following victims throughout the city limits. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and subsequently arrested Harrington.

• Brian L. Schmidt, 58, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault after allegedly assaulting a healthcare worker in the 3500 block of Steelhammer Drive at about 11:06 a.m. June 14.

Accidents

• A two-vehicle collision was reported near the corner of South Gold Street and Fair Street at about 4:21 p.m. June 14. There were no reported injuries.

Agency assist

• Centralia police assisted the Lacey Police Department with locating a domestic violence suspect. Officers responded to the 2500 block of Sharon Street at about 4:39 a.m. June 14.

Criminal trespass

• Don K. Gonzales, 37, Centralia, was arrested for alleged criminal trespass in the 1200 block of Mellen Street at about 9:29 a.m. June 12.

Dispute

• A dispute at a local bar was reported in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at about 12:50 a.m. June 13. Police said all involved parties left before their arrival. Other possible victims reportedly refused to cooperate.

• While on the scene, another physical dispute occurred near the corner of East Main Street and South Tower Avenue at about 2:18 a.m. June 13. Officers contacted all involved parties. The case is under investigation.

Drug paraphernalia

• Amie M. Devlin, 34, Onalaska, was arrested and released with a criminal citation for alleged use of drug paraphernalia in the 1005 block of South Yew Street at about 9:11 p.m. June 13.

DUI



• Renelle L. Hansen, 41, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in the 300 block of Lowe Street at about 6:12 p.m. June 13.

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run collision was reported in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 7:13 p.m. June 13. Police said the victim's vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Windsor Avenue at about 5:44 p.m. June 12.

• Officers responded to the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 7:31 p.m. June 13 to investigate an incident where oil was reportedly dumped through a victim's open car window.

Minor in possession

• A juvenile was arrested for minor in possession during a traffic stop near the corner of Hillkress Street and West Hanson Street at about 6:26 p.m. June 13.

Theft

• A juvenile was referred for theft charges after allegedly stealing an item from a local grocery store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 6:36 p.m. June 12.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Joseph D. Whitney-House was booked for his outstanding warrants and referred for identity theft after allegedly providing another person’s name to avoid being arrested. The arrest occurred near the corner of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue at about 12:20 p.m. June 11.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of June 15, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 149 inmates, including 135 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 113 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.

• As of June 15, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 21 inmates. Of those, nine were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis, one was from Elma and five were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were two from the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Skokomish Tribe and the Chehalis Tribal Court.
