Sirens: Teen Threatens to Kill Officers; Man Exposes Himself, Defecates Near Church; 'Smoking Drugs in Public'; Theft

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A cart full of merchandise was reported stolen from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 6:55 a.m. on May 12. 

• A homeless man from Chehalis was cited for shoplifting a bottle of alcohol from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 2:15 p.m. on May 12. 

• A white 2004 Chevy pickup with the Washington license plate C84661Z was reported stolen from the 900 block of Old Airport Way just after 3:45 p.m. on May 12. 

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:50 p.m. on May 12. 

• A Centralia woman was issued a court summons notice for a third-degree theft charge after she was seen on video stealing from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 7:05 p.m. on May 12. 

• A Bulldog car trailer was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Eckerson Road at 12:55 p.m. on May 14. 

• A backpack was reported stolen from the 600 block of North Tower Avenue at 9:20 p.m. on May 14. The victim said he left his backpack at the front of a store while he shopped, but while he was shopping, an unidentified male suspect stole the backpack and fled on foot. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 400 block of Courtland Street just before 5:25 a.m. on May 15. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• Injuries were reported following a three-vehicle collision in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7:40 a.m. on May 12. The Centralia Police Department did not release information about who was injured or the extent of the injuries sustained in the crash. 

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9 a.m. on May 14. 

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Reynolds and Belmont avenues just before 10:35 a.m. on May 14. The Centralia Police Department did not release information about who was injured or the extent of the injuries sustained in the crash.

 

Burglary 

• Officers responded to a burglary-in-progress at a building under construction in the 1300 block of Alexander Street at 2:35 p.m. on May 14. The case is under investigation. 

• Officers responded to a burglary-in-progress at a detached shop in the 100 block of North Barner Drive just after 3:25 p.m. on May 14. The case is under investigation.  

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West Fifth streets at 7:40 p.m. on May 12. A passing car reportedly hit the crossing bars over the railroad tracks, damaging them, then left the scene. 

 

Disorderly Conduct

• A homeless woman who was reportedly ‘banging on the outside” of a church cafe in the 400 block of West Main Street at 9:10 a.m. on May 12 was asked to leave the property. 

• A homeless woman was trespassed from a business in the 400 block of West Main Street just after 10:35 a.m. on May 12 for disorderly conduct. 

• Officers were dispatched to a report of a homeless man “brandishing a knife” in the 100 block of West Magnolia Street just before 11:45 a.m. on May 12. The man left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A homeless woman who was reportedly acting disorderly in the 700 block of West Main Street just after 4:40 p.m. on May 12 was “warned to discontinue her behavior.” 



• A homeless man was reportedly “smoking drugs in public” in the 100 block of South Oak Street at 4:50 p.m. on May 12. The man “was warned to stop that behavior.” 

• A homeless woman was reportedly “screaming” near a business in the 600 block of West Main Street at 9:30 p.m. on May 12. Officers were dispatched to the area. 

• Officers responded to a report of a Morton resident experiencing homelessness who was “entering the roadway” in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 11:55 a.m. on May 13. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A Centralia woman was arrested in the 1100 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 10:20 a.m. on May 13 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing. 

• A Morton resident experiencing homelessness was trespassed from a business in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 10:40 a.m. on May 13. 

• Officers responded to a complaint of homeless people camping near the railroad in the 700 block of South Gold Street at 11:20 a.m. on May 13. 

• At 3:45 p.m. on May 14, a man reportedly refused to leave a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue after an employee asked him to.

• Officers responded to a complaint of homeless people setting up camp on private property in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 4:05 p.m. on May 14. Officers contacted a homeless man from Toledo, who left the property when officers asked him to.  

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A homeless woman from Vader was arrested in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue at 7:55 p.m. on May 12 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for indecent exposure and third-degree malicious mischief after she allegedly “exposed herself to multiple people and defecated in the entrance area of a church.” 

• Damage to mailboxes in the 2700 block of Russell Road was reported at 8:10 a.m. on May 13.  

 

Assault 

• A 17-year-old male was arrested in the 700 block of Vienna Street at 12:35 a.m. on May 13 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for third-degree assault and felony harassment after he allegedly threatened police officers and threatened to kill them.

• A case of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence that was reported in the 3200 block of Fords Prairie Avenue just after 6:55 a.m. on May 15 is under investigation. No arrests have been made. 

 

Disputes 

• A family dispute was reported in the 800 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 2:25 p.m. on May 13. Officers determined no crime had occurred. 

• Officers responded to a verbal dispute at a park in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 2:35 p.m. on May 13. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 175 inmates, including 160 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 127 were reported male and 33 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
