Sirens: Teenagers Gang Up on Someone; Fireworks Damage Toilet; Indecent Exposure Arrest

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Recovered Vehicle

• A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:35 a.m. on July 6.

 

Retail Theft

• Just after 4:35 p.m. on July 6, a man who reportedly stole boots from a business in the 1700 block of North National Avenue a few days prior returned to the store wearing the stolen boots. Store staff retrieved the boots and the man was trespassed from the business.

• A subject was cited for shoplifting after they allegedly tried to steal tables, silverware and a chair from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on July 6.

 

Other Theft

• Just after 1:50 p.m. on July 6, a bicycle was reported stolen from the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard sometime overnight.

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 10:30 p.m. on July 6 after a subject allegedly broke out the window to a vehicle and fled the scene.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run to a parked vehicle was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 2:25 p.m. on July 6.

Vehicle Accident

• A subject was cited after they were involved in a vehicle accident at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 6:55 p.m. on July 6.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• A fourth-degree assault involving two strangers that was reported in the 800 block of Field Avenue at 10:20 a.m. on July 6 is under investigation.

• Several teenagers reportedly ganged up on a person in the 500 block of North Gold Street at approximately 5:20 p.m. on July 6. The case is under investigation.

• A Yelm man was arrested in the 800 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on July 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and for driving on a suspended license.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run to a parked car in the 500 block of West Main Street was reported at 7:15 p.m. on July 6.

 

Firework in the Porta John



• Damage to the inside of a “porta john” in the 700 block of East Locust Street was reported just after 10:35 p.m. on July 6 after someone reportedly set off a firework inside it.

Counterfeiting

• A man reportedly tried to pass a fake $100 bill at a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 3:05 p.m. on July 7. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle Theft

• A Silver 2000 Chevrolet Pickup, license plate C45967Y, was reported stolen from the 100 block of East Maple Street just after 6:30 a.m. on July 8. Approximately three hours prior, the investigating officer had attempted a traffic stop on two vehicles, one of which ended up matching the description of the stolen truck. Both vehicles fled at high rates of speed but the officer could not pursue at the time due to the type of crime.

 

Other Theft

• Several battery power tools were reported stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at 3:20 p.m. on July 7. The case is under investigation.

• “Numerous electronic items” were reported stolen from the 610 block of South Diamond Street just after 11:55 p.m. on July 7. The case is under investigation.

 

Indecent Exposure

• A Chehalis woman was arrested in the 700 block of South Gold Street just after 12:10 p.m. on July 7 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly “exposing her buttocks/private area and breasts in public” in front of a woman and a 5-year-old.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A rear window to a Jeep in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street was reported damaged just before 1:10 a.m. on July 8.

 

Shooting Complaint

• Officers are investigating a shooting complaint in which multiple shots were reportedly fired on the Exit 81 on-ramp of southbound Interstate 5. At this time there are no known victims or suspects, according to police.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 144 inmates, including 127 in the general population and 17 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 107 were reported male and 20 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 17 were reported male and three were reported female.
