Sirens: Thousands of Dollars of Merchandise, Lumber Stolen; Race Ends in Crash; Overdose; Woman Pepper-Sprayed

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Malicious Mischief 

• A 38-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 200 block of West Main Street just before 10:10 a.m. on June 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree malicious mischief after he allegedly damaged a vehicle parked in front of a salon while the owner was having their hair done. 

 

Theft 

• A motorcycle plate was reported stolen from the 200 block of West Pear Street at approximately 11:50 a.m. on June 23. 

• A stolen vehicle was recovered at an auction in the 1100 block of North Pearl Street just after 4:45 p.m. on June 23 after the vehicle triggered the Flock Safety System. 

• An unknown male and an accomplice reportedly stole thousands of dollars of merchandise and lumber from a hardware store in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue and left in a dark colored GMC Envoy pulling a utility trailer just before 9:30 a.m. on June 24. 

• Two women reportedly left a store in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue at approximately 8:20 p.m. on June 24 with shopping carts full of groceries without paying for the items. The case is still under investigation.

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• An airbag deployed during a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of East Summa and South Gold streets just after 12:45 p.m. on June 23. 

• A vehicle reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Pearl and East Summa streets just after 7:45 p.m. on June 23 and collided with another vehicle, causing both airbags to deploy. At least one party reported injuries. 

• Officers were dispatched to a minor-injury, two-vehicle collision in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9:35 p.m. on June 23. During the collision investigation, officers learned the two vehicles had been racing on Harrison Avenue and that one of the racing vehicles ran a red light, colliding with another vehicle  that had the right of way. The driver, an 18-year-old Onalaska man, was issued a criminal citation for racing and an infraction for failing to obey the traffic signal.

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:20 a.m. on June 24. 

 

Assault 

• Just before 5:20 p.m. on June 23, a woman reported she was pepper-sprayed by another woman in the 200 block of South Tower Avenue. The case is under investigation. 

• A 20-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 200 block of North Iron Street just after 8:15 p.m. on June 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault. A juvenile in the residence was also referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court for possible fourth-degree assault charges. 

• A 23-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at 5:15 p.m. on June 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for two counts of fourth-degree assault after she was involved in a physical dispute with two people. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A customer was reportedly being disorderly at a gas station in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:20 a.m. on June 24. The man left before officers arrived. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A homeless man from Toledo was trespassed from BNSF property after he was found with items from a dumpster on railroad property at the intersection of East Fifth Street and North Tower Avenue at 8:05 p.m. on June 24. 

• A homeless man from Centralia was trespassed from a church in the 300 block of North Gold Street just before 11 p.m. on June 24 after church staff reportedly asked him to leave multiple times. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• Two subjects were moved along from the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 9:50 a.m. on June 23. 

• A case of trespassing was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just before 2:15 p.m. on June 23. 

• A man in a wheelchair who was panhandling in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 11:15 a.m. on June 24 was trespassed from the area. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 3 p.m. on June 24. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1500 block of Rice Road at approximately 8:20 p.m. on June 25. 

 

Sexual Misconduct 

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on June 23 is under investigation. At least one subject has been arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

 

Found Person 

• A 2-year-old boy was reportedly walking around by himself at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest Ninth Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 23. The child was reunited with his mother. 



 

Theft 

• Cash and other items were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road at 3:50 p.m. on June 23. 

• A case of possible mail theft was reported in the 700 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 8:55 a.m. on June 24. 

• A possible vehicle theft was reported in the 1700 block of Southwest Armstrong Court just after 5:30 p.m. on June 24. 

 

Counterfeiting 

• Counterfeit $20 bills were reported at a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1:45 p.m. on June 24. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Just after 1 a.m. on June 24, a caller reported someone threw something through their window in the 600 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue. 

• A case of third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. on June 24 is under investigation. 

 

Possible Child Abuse/Neglect 

• At 12:30 p.m. on June 24, a caller in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court reported concerns about a possible child abuse situation in a neighboring residence. 

 

Vehicle Accidents

• Possible injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:50 p.m. on June 24. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:10 p.m. on June 24. 

 

Disputes 

• A domestic dispute was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3 p.m. on June 24. 

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 12:40 p.m. on June 25. 

 

Traffic Concern 

• A juvenile was reportedly driving a dirt bike “extremely fast and going the wrong way on the roadway” at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and South Market Boulevard at 6:15 p.m. on June 24. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• Two males were reportedly harassing employees at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 6:35 p.m. on June 24. 

• Just before 10:15 p.m. on June 24, a caller reported “a disorderly conduct that occurred at the last commissioner meeting” in the 300 block of Northwest North Street, saying he saw a video of someone “stomping into (the) commissioner meeting last week, placing (a) sign in front of (a) commissioner” and possibly hitting him with a sign,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Three subjects were reportedly underneath a car in the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road just after 10:25 p.m. on June 24. Officers were unable to locate the subjects and the vehicle was not damaged. 

• A cleaner at a church in the 10 block of South Market Boulevard reported finding a possible bullet hole just before 12:45 a.m. on June 25. The hole “appeared to be old damage” and had “no obvious cause,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

 

Overdose 

• An overdose reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just before 3:10 p.m. on June 25 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 156 inmates, including 142 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 108 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
