Sirens: Three arrested after burglary; woman finds man living in her house; woman cited for 'aggressive, unsolicited advances' at bar

Burglary

• Just after 9:25 a.m. on Jan. 31, officers responded to a report that a business’s outdoor storage container in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue had been broken into and items had been stolen. Joseph Whitney-House, 25, of Centralia; Duane K. Goble, 40, of Chehalis; and Michael E. Bostwick, 51, of Centralia, were arrested after officers identified them in security footage. They allegedly confessed after they were arrested, according to the Centralia Police Department. All three were booked into the Lewis County Jail and had preliminary hearings in Lewis County Superior Court for malicious mischief and burglary charges scheduled for 4 p.m. on Feb. 3. Whitney-House was also booked on a Department of Corrections warrant and an unrelated Lewis County Superior Court felony warrant.

• Just after 7 p.m. on Feb. 1, a woman reported that she returned to a house she was moving out of in the 100 block of South Diamond Street and found a male had unlawfully entered and was “apparently living there.” The male fled before officers arrived, leaving behind “numerous personal items.” A 59-year-old Centralia man has since been arrested as a suspect. A second suspect is “outstanding but has been identified by officers,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A 25-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI at the intersection of South Iron and West Cherry streets just before 2:35 a.m. on Feb. 1.

 

Theft

• Two unidentified suspects reportedly shoplifted from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just after 11 a.m. on Feb. 2. The case is under investigation.

 

Harassment

• A juvenile was arrested for felony harassment, domestic violence, and third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, in the 500 block of Jefferson Street just before 1:55 p.m. on Feb. 2.

 

Assault

• A 35-year-old Centralia woman was cited for fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation after she reportedly made “aggressive, unsolicited advances” toward other patrons at a bar in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 10:10 p.m. on Feb. 2. Due to “medical concerns,” she was issued a citation instead of being arrested and booked into the jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 35-year-old Tacoma man was arrested for fourth-degree assault in the 100 block of North Gold Street at 12:25 a.m. on Feb. 3 after he allegedly assaulted a sleeping male without provocation.

 



Lewd conduct

• An unidentified male was reportedly engaging in “inappropriate self-stimulation” in front of a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue, where he was witnessed by customers and staff, just after 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. Once contacted by police, the male reportedly tried to leave, refused to identify himself, and was found to be in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. The male was arrested for lewd conduct, obstructing law enforcement, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked as a “John Doe” pending fingerprinting at the jail.

Sentencing

• Roy Joseph Fisher, 51, of La Center, pleaded guilty Jan. 31 to one count each of second- and fourth-degree assault and was sentenced to four months in jail, with credit for 29 days served. An additional 334-day jail sentence is suspended for 24 months. No-contact orders protecting the victims are in place.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 78 illness-related calls, 27 injury-related calls, seven fire-related calls, 13 non-emergency service calls, 14 vehicle accidents, one Lifeline medical alert, two overdoses, one hazardous conditions report, one 911 hangup call, one ambulance request and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 148 inmates, including 135 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 17 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, seven booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
