LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT
Preliminary appearances
• Brian T. Clark, 42, made a preliminary appearance July 14 for one count of failure to register as a sex offender, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison. The court set bail at $5,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment hearing for July 16.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Bryan A. Hampton, 44, Portland, was arrested after his alleged involvement in a theft at a local department store in the 1300 block of Lum Road at about 4:10 p.m. July 16. Officers attempted to stop Hampton’s vehicle, but he allegedly fled toward Chehalis, driving recklessly at reported speeds over 100 mph. Police said Hampton ultimately stopped the vehicle in a neighborhood and fled on foot. He was apprehended nearby. Police reportedly recovered a firearm inside his vehicle. Hampton is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to past criminal offenses.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1300 block of Art Lehmann Drive at about 12:48 p.m. July 15. No injuries were reported.
Assault
• Officers investigated a reported assault in the 600 block of K Street at about 8:25 a.m. July 16.
Burglary
• A bicycle was reported stolen in the 1100 block of West Plum Street at about 4:29 p.m. July 15. The case is under investigation.
Child molestation
• A possible sexual assault of a child was reported in the 900 block of Allen Avenue at about 6:47 p.m. July 15. The case is under investigation.
Criminal trespass
• A transient individual was trespassed after loitering in the parking lot of a local business in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 2:08 p.m. July 15.
• A transient individual was trespassed after attempting to set up sleeping arrangements in a vacant residence in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 9:29 p.m. July 15.
• A subject was trespassed for causing a disturbance at a local business in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at about 1:39 a.m. July 16.
Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 3:29 p.m. July 16.
• A hit-and-run was reported in the 100 block of West Maple Street at about 4:01 p.m. July 16. The collision reportedly occurred on July 9. There was no suspect information.
Malicious mischief
• A victim reported that their vehicle’s tires had been slashed sometime during the night. The report was made in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 1:44 p.m. July 16. No suspects were known at the time.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS
• As of July 17, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 129 inmates, including 115 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 98 were reported male and 17 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.
• As of July 17, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 17 inmates. Of those, two were from Centralia, one was from Chehalis, one was from Elma and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were three from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
