CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Vicky Roy, 57, Centralia, was arrested and released for allegedly camping in the roadway in the 100 block of South Iron Street at about 1:40 a.m. Sept. 5.
• Derk J. Singleton, 45, Centralia, was arrested for alleged use of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of North Gold Street at about 6:33 a.m. Sept. 5.
• Brian Kupfer, 64, Centralia, was arrested and released for aiming or discharging a firearm, as well as a Centralia Municipal Code violation for discharge of a firearm, after accidently firing a round from a firearm he was cleaning in the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road at about 8:31 a.m. Sept. 5.
• Derek Malarz, 34, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly assaulting a person with whom he had a family/household relationship with in the 200 block of Jackson Street at about 12:10 p.m. Sept. 5.
• Austen C. Vermillion, 19, Centralia, was arrested and released for second-degree criminal trespassing for entering and remaining on a property he had been trespassed from in the 100 block of South Silver Street at about 12:20 p.m. Sept. 5.
• Regan Delabarre, 44, Issaquah, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI, after allegedly being found operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs at the corner of West Main Street and South Cedar Street at about 9:52 p.m. Sept 5.
• Kyle Elliot, 40, Seattle, was arrested in the 700 block of East Locust Street at about 11:16 a.m. Sept. 6 and booked into Lewis County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, use of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, as well as a warrant out of the state Department of Corrections.
• Henry Pena Leal, 23, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in the 1000 block of Ellsbury Street at about 5:46 a.m. Sept. 7.
• Jaysen L. Holmes, 47, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding warrant in the 2100 block of North Pearl Street at about 1:01 p.m. Sept. 7. Holmes was referred to the Centralia prosecutor for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
• Austen C. Vermillion, 19, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, third-degree assault and felony harassment in the 1300 block of Gold Street at about 4:09 p.m. Sept 7. Vermillion was reported to have been throwing rocks through the victim’s windshield, causing injuries and biting the victim. An officer located Vermillion at which time he fled after allegedly punching the officer in the face. Vermillion was placed under arrest and allegedly threatened to have officers killed.
Assault
• Benjamin Rivas, 33, Centralia, was referred to the Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for second-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 300 block of North Gold Street at about 9:44 p.m. Sept. 6. The incident reportedly stems from an unreported incident where he allegedly strangled a person with whom he had a family/household relationship with two years prior.
• Raul Lopez Cruz, 45, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly striking a person with whom he had a family/household relationship with in the 1800 block of North Pearl Street at about 11:42 p.m. Sept. 6.
Shooting complaint
• Officers responded to a shooting complaint with reports of screaming heard in the 2100 block of North Pearl Street at about 2:20 a.m. Sept. 5. Officers contacted numerous households but were unable to locate any suspects or victims. Surveillance footage obtained showed what appears to be a firework going off in the area with associated sounds and flash as described by the numerous witnesses.
Accident with injuries
• A report was made of a vehicle colliding with a train at the corner of West Summa Street and South Tower Avenue at about 8:49 p.m. Sept. 5. The occupant of the vehicle is in critical condition and receiving higher-level care at a trauma hospital.
Harassment
• Reports of threats to kill and burglary of a fenced area were made in the 100 block of South Silver Street at about 9:49 p.m. Sept. 5. The case is under investigation.
Hit-and-run
• Officers responded to a hit-and-run collision in the 400 block of West Cherry Street at about 5:56 a.m. Sept. 5. The collision reportedly originated on I-5. The case is under investigation.
• A report was made of a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision in the 1100 block of Johnson Road at about 9:07 p.m. Sept. 6. The case is under investigation.
Theft
• A purple Huffy brand mountain bike was stolen from a driveway sometime overnight in the 300 block of South Gold Street at about 9:21 p.m. Sept 7.

JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Sept. 8, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 194 inmates, including 181 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 153 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
