Sirens: 'Trying to Spit on People'; Drug Referrals; Assaulted by Three Males; Trespasser Holds Knife

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• A 45-year-old homeless man from Winlock was trespassed for life from a business in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just after 8 a.m. on June 19. 

• A male was reportedly asked to leave a restroom at a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road at approximately 10:15 a.m. on June 20 and he refused, according to the Centralia Police Department.  When business staff approached the male a second time, the male reportedly “came at the staff in a threatening manner and had a knife in his hand, but did not threaten with the knife.” A staff member “felt threatened and sprayed the male suspect with mace,” at which point the male fled the scene, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers later located the male, treated him for OC exposure and advised him he was trespassed for life from the business’ property.

• A homeless male from Centralia was trespassed from a business in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 2:05 p.m. on June 20 after he was found sleeping near the building.

• A woman was trespassed from a business property in the 1500 block of Kresky Avenue just after 8:15 p.m. on June 20 after she was reportedly “being disorderly and causing alarm to the employees.” 

 

Assault 

• A 43-year-old Centralia woman was arrested and released with a court date for a fourth-degree assault charge in the 1700 block of Winterwood Drive at 8:55 a.m. on June 19. 

• Officers were dispatched to a physical dispute between several juveniles in the 900 block of L Street just after 12:30 a.m. on June 20. Upon arrival, officers learned the dispute was orchestrated by both involved parties. One of the juveniles was later transported to Centralia Providence Hospital.

• An 18-year-old male was reportedly assaulted by three unknown males while walking down the street at the intersection of Mount Vista Road and Allen Avenue at 11:15 p.m. on June 20. The victim could not provide a description of the suspects and advised the vehicle they were in was a dark color.

• A 27-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 4:25 a.m. on June 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Theft 

• At 9:20 a.m. on June 19, a caller reported a garden hose was stolen from a property in the 600 block of South Diamond Street. Someone had additionally defecated on the property. 

• Just after 10:55 a.m. on June 19, a U-Haul truck was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Ellsbury Street sometime overnight. 

• Alcoholic beverages were reported stolen from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 9 p.m. on June 19. The male suspect reportedly fled in a black Cadillac Escalade. 

• A case of shoplifting that occurred in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue on June 19 was reported just after 8:25 a.m. on June 20. The suspects, identified as a male and a female driving a black BMW, reportedly stole two jackets worth $260. 

• A man “possibly stole some clothing items” from a store in the 1400 block of Lum Road just before 3:50 p.m. on June 20 and fled in a waiting vehicle. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Reynolds Avenue and Johnson Road just after 6:05 p.m. on June 19. 

• Possible injuries were reported following a two-vehicle, blocking collision at the intersection of West Cherry Street and South Tower Avenue just before 10 p.m. on June 19. 

• A single-vehicle collision was reported in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 4:45 p.m. on June 20. The driver reportedly lost control of their vehicle and struck a light pole. No injuries were reported. 

 

Drug Violation 

• Just after 12:25 a.m. on June 20, an officer observed a vehicle with no license plate parked at a local gas station with three people inside. One of the occupants appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and drugs and drug paraphernalia were visible inside the vehicle near the occupants, according to the Centralia Police Department. After a consented search, officers located controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Two of the vehicle’s occupants, a 32-year-old Taholah resident and a 36-year-old Westport resident, were referred to the Centralia Municipal Court for knowingly possessing a controlled substance.

 



Malicious Mischief 

• A glass door to a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue was reported broken at approximately 4:45 a.m. on June 20. The case is under investigation. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• A male subject was reportedly “acting strange, climbing a tree and hanging upside down” near a playground in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at approximately 1 p.m. on June 19. 

• A possible “drug deal” was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 5:50 p.m. on June 19. Officers confirmed one subject was giving the other money for doing construction work on their house. 

• A magazine was reportedly set on fire in front of a business in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just before 5:55 p.m. on June 19. 

• A suitcase was reportedly left at a bus stop at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and South Market Boulevard just before 9:25 p.m. on June 19. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• Subjects who were reportedly living in two vehicles parked in a lot in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue were moved along just after 4:35 p.m. on June 19. 

• A homeless man was moved along from the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:25 p.m. on June 20. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A disorderly male was reportedly “trying to spit on people” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 11:45 p.m. on June 20. 

 

Theft 

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 6:05 p.m. on June 19. 

 

Death Investigation 

• A death reported in the 800 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue just before noon on June 20 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 152 inmates, including 136 in the general population and 16 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and three were reported female.
