Sirens: Vehicle prowler arrested after returning for wallet; medical professional assaulted; counterfeit money found

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Fraud

• A business in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street reported receiving two counterfeit $20 bills from an unknown subject just after 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 2.

 

Theft

• Just after 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 2, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 2000 block of North Pearl Street two days prior was reported.

• A security camera was reported stolen from a business in the 700 block of South Gold Street just after 9:55 a.m. on Aug. 3. Officers have obtained a photo of the suspect from the security camera. The case is under investigation.

• Officers responded to the report of a vehicle prowl in the 900 block of North Tower Avenue after a citizen reported seeing an unknown male exiting their vehicle just after 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 4. While an officer was on scene, the homeless male suspect walked back to the vehicle to retrieve his wallet that he left inside the vehicle.  When officers checked the vehicle, suspected stolen property was located inside. When speaking to the suspect, he allegedly admitted to sleeping in the vehicle overnight. The suspect, 47, of Tacoma, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant. “This case is under investigation; additional charges may be added,” the Centralia Police Department stated.

 

Malicious mischief

• A 27-year-old Centralia woman was cited for third-degree malicious mischief for damaging a vehicle’s windshield in the 1400 block of Logan Street just before 9 a.m. on Aug. 2.

• A 33-year-old Centralia man reportedly called 911 at 9:35 p.m. on Aug. 4 to report someone had broken a window at a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street. When officers arrived, the man allegedly “admitted to using a chair to break the window because he is homeless and wanted to go to jail,” according to the Centralia Police Department. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail.

 

Drug violation

• A 61-year-old Centralia man was cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance after officers arresting him for a Thurston County District Court warrant in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue at 10 a.m. on Aug. 2 found suspected meth on his person.

 

Assault

• A patient reportedly assaulted a medical professional in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 2. The case is under investigation.

• A 23-year-old Centralia man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 400 block of North Ash Street just after 1:35 a.m. on Aug. 4.

• A 32-year-old Centralia man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 500 block of East Maple Street just after 10:50 a.m. on Aug. 4.

 

Vicious dog

• A dog reportedly bit a juvenile in the 100 block of Virginia Drive at 5:25 p.m. on Aug. 2. The juvenile sustained minor injuries and sought medical attention.

 



Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly male was reported at Borst Park in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 3. The man, 27, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding Lewis County District Court warrant.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Randle man was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of South Silver Street just before 2 p.m. on Aug. 3 for yelling at employees and customers and refusing to leave when asked.

• A homeless Oklahoma woman who was reportedly yelling inside a store in the 400 block of East Summa Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 3 and refusing to leave when asked was trespassed from the business.

• Four homeless people were trespassed from private property in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 10:35 p.m. on Aug. 3.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 900 block of Marion Street just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 4.

• A vehicle reportedly struck two parked cars in the 300 block of North Diamond Street and fled the scene at 10:50 a.m. on Aug. 4.

 

Sexucal misconduct

• Sexual assault to a minor was reported in the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 4:55 p.m. on Aug. 4. The case is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 70 illness-related calls, 26 injury-related calls, 11 fire-related calls, 11 non-emergency service calls, five vehicle accidents, four Lifeline medical alerts, three overdoses, one medical helicopter request, one 911 hangup call and five other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 98 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 18 inmates, including 11 booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
