Sirens: Vehicles Stuck in Ditches; Hit-and-Runs; Morton and Mossyrock Incidents

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicles Stuck in Ditches 

• At 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 27, there was a report of a vehicle submerged in water in a ditch in the 2100 block of North National Avenue. No one appeared to be inside the vehicle when the report was made. 

• Just before 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 27, there was a report of a vehicle that left the roadway at the intersection of Southwest Parkland Drive and Southwest Interstate Avenue and went into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

• At 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 28, there was a report of a vehicle stuck on the embankment of a ditch in the 1600 block of Southeast Aust Manor Drive. The driver was advised to call a tow company. 

• At approximately 1:05 p.m. on Dec. 28, there was a report of white pickup truck submerged in water in a ditch in the 2100 block of North National Avenue. The caller who made the report was unable to tell if anyone was inside the vehicle. 

Other Crash 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 28. 

Hit-and-Runs 

• A hit-and-run reported at the intersection of Northwest West Street and Northwest State Avenue just after 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 27 is under investigation. 

• A hit-and-run reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 is under investigation. 

• A hit-and-run reported in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 8 p.m. on Dec. 27 is under investigation. 

Theft 

• Two heaters were reported stolen from the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 27. 

• At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 28, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue sometime overnight. 

Snowballs 

• Just before 9 a.m. on Dec. 28, a caller in the 1900 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue reported a neighbor had thrown snowballs at her trailer at 5 a.m. that morning. No arrests were made. 

Welfare Check 

• Just before 5:45 a.m. on Dec. 29, a caller requested a welfare check for a subject who was “slumped over” in a running vehicle in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. The vehicle had been there since approximately 4 a.m. that morning. 

MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Morton Incidents 

• An officer was requested to do a welfare check at the 100 block of First Street at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 19. 

• An officer assisted Adult Protective Services by performing a welfare check in the 700 block of Adams Avenue at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 20.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Division Avenue to assist another agency just after 2:50 p.m. on Dec. 21.



• Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 200 block of Knittles Way on Dec. 23 just before midnight. An informational report was taken.

Mossyrock Incidents 

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just before noon on Dec. 19 regarding a suspicious circumstance’s complaint. Nothing was found out of the ordinary. 

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 6:35 a.m. on Dec. 21 regarding a suspicious circumstance’s complaint. Nothing was found out of the ordinary. 

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just before 8:35 p.m. on Dec. 21 regarding a suspicious circumstance’s complaint. Nothing was found out of the ordinary and an informational report was taken.  

• An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Mossyrock Road at 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 23 regarding a trespass complaint. The complaint was determined to be a civil matter.

• An officer was dispatched to the area of James Street and Mossyrock Avenue at 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 24 regarding a shooting complaint. No arrests were made and an informational report was taken. 

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street just after 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 24 regarding a suspicious circumstance’s complaint. Nothing was found out of the ordinary. 

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street regarding a suspicious circumstance’s complaint just after 6:55 a.m. on Dec. 25. Nothing was found out of the ordinary. 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Dec. 27, a wallet was reported stolen from the 1000 block of South Scheuber Road several months ago. 

• A subject was cited for third-degree theft just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 27 after allegedly stealing a soda from a store in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue. 

• A silver 1997 Honda Accord with the Washington state license plate BDW0536 was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 8:50 p.m. on Dec. 28. 

Hit-and-Run 

• An unknown vehicle struck an out-of-service telephone box in the 1500 block of Johnson Road just before 10:05 a.m. on Dec. 28. 

Trespassing 

• A subject was arrested in the 1200 block of West First Street just before 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 28 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged trespassing and on multiple outstanding warrants. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS 

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 129 inmates, including 114 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 95 were reported male and 19 were reported female. All WERC inmates were reported male.
