Sirens: Verbal dispute ends with subjects 'making out intensely'; Father reports son for shoplifting; Caller reports fast food business isn't open on time

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• Homeless people were trespassed from private property in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 8:05 a.m. on Oct. 11. 

• Two subjects were trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 6:25 a.m. on Oct. 12 after they were found sleeping in a storage shed on the business’ property. 

• A Montana man was trespassed from a park in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 7:35 a.m. on Oct. 12 after he was found camping under a picnic shelter. 

• A homeless man was trespassed for life from a business in the 1100 block of View Avenue just after 4 p.m. on Oct. 12 for “alarming customers.” 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Scammon Creek Road and Colonial Drive just after 8:25 a.m. on Oct. 11. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue just before 2:35 p.m. on Oct. 11. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and North Washington Avenue just after 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 12. 

 

Theft 

• Three Kelso residents were arrested at about 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 11 for allegedly stealing nearly $1,400 worth of clothing from a department store in the 100 block of West High Street. The subjects were not booked “due to Lewis County Jail booking restrictions” and charges were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• Several hundred dollars in cash was reported missing from a building in the 100 block of West Main Street just after 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 12. The case is under investigation. 

 

Assault 

• A 21-year-old Centralia woman was referred to the prosecutor’s office for fourth-degree assault charges after she was involved in “a physical altercation with a friend” in the 3200 block of Galvin Road at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 11. The subject left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• A 27-year-old from Bronx, New York, was arrested in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 11:55 p.m. on Oct. 11 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree malicious mischief after they allegedly used a rock to damage a stranger’s vehicle. The subject “was unable to articulate a motive for the incident,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• Police and the property owner of a building in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue warned a man gathering signatures about impeding customers’ access to buildings. The man moved his table to another location, which was “sufficient for the property manager,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Suspicious circumstances 

• Just before 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 11, a caller reported he was at a fast food restaurant in the 100 block of Kirkland Road and advised “they’re supposed to open at (7 a.m.) and they’re not open.” He reported “this is very unusual (and he) thinks some crime might be going on.” About 10 minutes later, the caller advised the restaurant had opened and “everything is fine.” 

• A male subject was possibly doing drugs in the bathroom of a business in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. 

• Between 12:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 13, a male subject reportedly called 911 and the Chehalis Police Department’s administrative line repeatedly and “berated” the dispatchers and officers who took the calls, played music into the phone, and “cussed” about the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. 

 

Elevator rescue 

• A subject was reportedly stuck in an elevator in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle just before 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 11. The reporting party called back about three minutes later to report the subject was out of the elevator. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• Just after 11:25 a.m. on Oct. 11, a caller reported “two women and a little girl” who she does not know “just came in her house (and) refused to leave.” An officer cleared the residence at the caller’s request and found no one was there. Shortly after the officer left, the reporting party called back to report “the ladies are back,” saying “they waited for law enforcement to leave then came back.” The officer again searched the residence and found no one was there. Family arrived to care for the reporting party at about noon. 

 



Harassment 

• A civil issue involving harassment was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 11:35 a.m. on Oct. 11. The incident reportedly occurred the night before. 

 

Drug violation 

• A male subject was reportedly “smoking from a pipe” inside a vehicle in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 11. 

 

Theft 

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 11 is under investigation. 

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:50 p.m. on Oct. 11. 

• Power tools were reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 300 block of Northwest Park Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 11. 

• An incident involving a subject taking a motor vehicle without permission that was reported in the 500 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just after 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 12 is under investigation. 

• A subject was cited for second-degree theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 12. 

 

Juvenile problem 

• At 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 11, a caller in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court reported his son “left a little bit ago and came back with a bag of chips and a slushie, which he stole.' The parent said he searched his son’s room and found “three half gallons of vodka” and said his son “is out of control.” 

 

Dispute 

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 11:10 p.m. on Oct. 11. 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 12. The reporting party later reported the subjects were “‘making out’ intensely.” 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A disabled truck blocking the roadway near the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and state Route 6 was towed at about 5:10 p.m. on Oct. 11. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A disorderly male subject was reported in the 1200 block of Northwest State Avenue at 9:10 a.m. on Oct. 12. 

• A “tweaker” was reportedly “spinning around, smashing (a) bike against (a) barrier (and) yelling” in the 700 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• A case of third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 1600 block of South Market Boulevard just before 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 12 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 143 inmates, including 131 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
