Sirens: Wheelchair stolen; homeless woman arrested for reckless burning; counterfeit money reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A 32-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just before 8:15 a.m. on July 31.

• A Randle resident who allegedly tried to steal a pair of shoes from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 was trespassed from the business.

• A 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested for trespassing at a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 1.

 

Theft

• An electric wheelchair valued at over $3,000 was reported stolen from the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue just after 1:55 p.m. on July 31.

• An unidentified male reportedly stole clothing from an outlet store in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 6:25 p.m. on July 31 and fled in a black BMW.

• A locating transmitter was reported stolen from the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 1.

 

Fraud

• A white male in his 30s reportedly tried to pass a counterfeit bill at a gas station in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:40 p.m. on July 31.

Hit-and-run

• A vehicle struck wooden posts in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at 3 p.m. on July 31 and fled the scene.

• A 46-year-old Centralia man was cited for hit-and-run in the 800 block of Wayne Drive just after 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 1.

 

Drug violation

• Three Centralia residents were cited for knowing possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in the 1200 block of Lum Road just before 1 a.m. on Aug. 2.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly male was reportedly yelling and screaming about killing himself and “all ‘90s people” at a bus stop at the intersection of Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest Second Street just before 9:10 a.m. on July 31.

 

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 10 a.m. on July 31, there was a report that a wall in the 100 block of Northeast School Street was tagged sometime overnight.



 

Sexual misconduct

• A case of child molestation reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 11:25 a.m. on July 31 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:20 p.m. on July 31.

• A vehicle crashed into a ditch in the 400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:15 p.m. on July 31. No injuries were reported.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1000 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 is under investigation.

 

Reckless burning

• A homeless woman was arrested for setting up camp and starting a fire at the intersection of Southwest James Street and Southwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 8:50 p.m. on July 31.

 

Theft

• A theft reported in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 37 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, 15 fire-related calls, nine non-emergency service calls, two vehicle accidents, three reports of a dead body, one medical helicopter request and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 134 inmates, including 122 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 90 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 17 inmates, including 10 booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
