Preliminary appearances
• Edward L. Danzer, 71, Tenino, made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Friday, May 8, after posting $20,000 in bail. Danzer is charged with one count of escape from community custody. Danzer was scheduled for an arraignment on May 21.
• Eric M. Messal, 34, Chehalis, made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Friday, May 8, for one count of escape from community custody. The court set bail at $25,000 cash or bond. Messal was scheduled for an arraignment on May 14.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Stacie S. Starkey, 44, Puyallup, was arrested in the 1100 block of Centralia College Boulevard at about 7:46 a.m. May 8 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree vehicle prowl after she allegedly entered a vehicle that did not belong to her and was confronted by witnesses before she could steal property or the vehicle.
• William Radau, 23, Onalaska, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after allegedly shoplifting from a local business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 9:16 p.m. May 8.
• Adrian Lara, 38, Wenatchee, was arrested in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road at about 6:10 p.m. May 9 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault and interfering with a health care facility after allegedly disrupting the operations of an emergency room and assaulting a security officer.
• Centralia officers assisted the Chehalis Police Department in locating and taking Joseph Etelamaki, 63, Centralia, into custody at Fairway Lanes in the 1500 block of South Gold Street at about 8:09 p.m. May 9. Etelamaki was reportedly suspected of hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
• Centralia officers assisted the Chehalis Police Department in taking Robert Clark, 34, Centralia, into custody for alleged third-degree malicious mischief in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at about 9:17 p.m. May 9.
• Centralia officers assisted the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office in taking Dustin Larson, 41, Centralia, into custody for alleged obstruction of a law enforcement officer in the 3100 block of Galvin Road at about 2:53 a.m. May 10.
• Theodore J. Fulton, 50, Pe Ell, was arrested for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm near the corner of East Summa Street and Centralia Avenue at about 1:33 p.m. May 10.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street at about 12:26 p.m. May 8.
• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported near the corner of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 at about 3:19 p.m. May 8.
• A two-vehicle collision with no injuries was reported in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at about 12:41 p.m. May 9.
• Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision with injuries near the corner of Kresky Avenue and Union Street at about 12:26 p.m. May 10.
Criminal trespass
• Lucas Davis, 43, Mossyrock, was taken into custody and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:06 p.m. May 8.
• A transient male was trespassed from a property in the 1100 block of Caveness Road at about 8:54 a.m. May 9. Police said the male was allegedly camping against the owner’s permission.
Assault
• Officers investigated a reported assault between juveniles on a school bus in the 100 block of Virginia Drive at about 4 p.m. May 8.
• Officers investigated an assault that took place after someone walking in the roadway threw an object at a passing vehicle in the 1100 block of Johnson Road at about 12:16 a.m. May 11. The case is under investigation.
Department assist
• A Centralia officer assisted the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office with a drone deployment in the attempt to locate a missing person in the 100 block of Highline Drive at about 11:11 p.m. May 9.
Disorderly Conduct
• Officers assisted the Washington State Patrol with a subject walking in the roadway on Interstate 5 near the northbound collector-distributor lane and Harrison Avenue at about 5:24 p.m. May 10.
Drug paraphernalia
• Michael T. Mayer, 64, Winlock, was arrested after he was allegedly found with suspected drug paraphernalia in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street at about 7:40 p.m. May 10.
DUI
• Luis Franco Rodriguez, 23, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol near the corner of East Fourth Street and North Tower Avenue at about 2:22 a.m. May 10.
Harassment
• Officers investigated an alleged threat made at a financial institution in the 200 block of West Main Street at about 2:55 p.m. May 8.
Taking a motor vehicle without permission
• Officers investigated a report of a U-Haul being taken without the renter’s permission in the 1000 block of Yakima Street at about 2:09 p.m. May 8. No further information was available at the time.
Theft
• A theft from a local business was reported in the 100 block of West High Street at about 7:36 p.m. May 9. There were no further leads at the time.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

JAIL STATISTICS
• As of May 11, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 147 inmates, including 134 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 19 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of May 11, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 23 inmates. Of those, 11 were from Centralia, one was from Elma and nine were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Quileute Nation and the Shoalwater Bay Tribe.
