Sirens: Woman arrested for hit-and-run; shooting threat report unfounded; counterfeit money used for purchase

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 11:45 a.m. on June 5.

• A 57-year-old Woodland, California, woman was cited for a hit-and-run that was reported in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 6:50 p.m. on June 6. Officers located her a short time after the collision, at which time she made comments “leading officers to believe she knew she had been involved in a collision.” She was also cited for operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance and for having tabs that expired more than two months ago.

 

Theft

• A 19-year-old Morton man and a 22-year-old Adna man were arrested for stealing food from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 4:50 p.m. on June 5. The Morton man was released with a citation. The Adna man was booked for resisting arrest.

 

Assault

• A 40-year-old Centralia man and a 30-year-old Centralia resident were arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence after they assaulted each other during an altercation in the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue.

 

Fraud

• Just before 10:15 a.m. on June 6, a citizen in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue reported an unidentified subject answered an online sales ad and paid with counterfeit bills. The case is under investigation.

• At 10:40 a.m. on June 6, a convenience store chain reported finding credit card skimmers at two of its locations, one of which is located in the 400 block of East Summa Street.

 

Burglary

• A burglary to a shed in the 300 block of West Main Street was reported at 10:20 a.m. on June 6. The case is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• Homeless people from Centralia and Chehalis were trespassed from private property in the 1200 block of Alder Street after they were found camping there without permission at 1:50 a.m. on June 7.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Child abuse or neglect

• A reporting party with a child abuse hotline for Native Americans requested a welfare check on a child in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 7:45 a.m. on June 5.

 



Theft

• A camera was reported stolen from outside a building in the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at approximately 9 a.m. on June 5.

• A theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:15 p.m. on June 5 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Pacific Avenue and Northwest Park Street at 10:30 a.m. on June 5.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A woman was reportedly having a mental breakdown in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 12:15 p.m. on June 5. She was reportedly talking to herself and hallucinating.

 

Shooting threat

• At approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 5, a staff member at Olympic Academy in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way reported a student had threatened to shoot another staff member. An internal investigation by the school found the threats were unfounded, but the school wanted the incident to be documented, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

 

Assault

• A second-degree assault reported in the 700 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 4:50 p.m. on June 5 is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 46 illness-related calls, 11 injury-related calls, 10 fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, three Lifeline alerts, one hazardous conditions report, one overdose and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 114 inmates, including 102 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 78 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and one was reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 13 inmates, including six booked by the Centralia Police Department, two booked by the state Department of Corrections, two booked by the Lummi Nation, two booked by the City of McCleary and one booked by the Tenino Police Department.
