Sirens: Woman bites officer during DUI arrest; Three caught stealing from outlets; Scammer threatens to post photos of victim

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A trespass complaint was reported in the 2400 block of Borst Avenue at 8:55 a.m. on Dec. 4. Homeless people have reportedly been leaving garbage and defecating on the property. An officer who responded did not locate anyone in the area. 

• A 20-year-old homeless man from Centralia was trespassed for one year from a park in the 100 block of South Pearl Street just after 11:25 a.m. on Dec. 4 after he was reportedly found “in an off limits area that was clearly posted.” 

• Three homeless men found sleeping inside a customer-only area of a business in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard at 6:05 a.m. on Dec. 6 were trespassed from the property. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Borst Avenue and North Scheuber Road at approximately 11 a.m. on Dec. 4. One of the involved drivers, a 16-year-old, was cited for third-degree driving with a suspended license. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Pearl Street and East Reynolds Avenue just after 11:15 a.m. on Dec. 4. The at-fault driver reportedly failed to stop on time and rear-ended another vehicle. The at-fault driver was issued an infraction. 

• A two-vehicle collision was reported in the 40 block of West Main Street just after 12:35 p.m. on Dec. 5. 

• A two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Pearl and West Main streets just before 4:25 p.m. on Dec. 5. 

 

Assault 

• A 30-year-old Centralia woman was arrested at the intersection of southbound Interstate 5 and Harrison Avenue just before 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 4 after she allegedly bit an officer’s arm after the officer arrested her for DUI. The officer sustained a minor injury that did not require medical treatment, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A 20-year-old Centralia resident was arrested in the 600 block of West Roanoke Street just after 10:50 a.m. on Dec. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

DUI 

A 44-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI after he was involved in a collision. 

 

Theft

• Bank cards were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Borst Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. The case is under investigation. 

• A package was reported stolen off of a porch in the 100 block of Virginia Drive just after 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 5. 

• Clothing was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Lum Road just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 5. The case is under investigation. 

• Three Shelton residents were arrested in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 5 for allegedly stealing items totalling over $1,000 from two outlet stores. “Due to jail booking restrictions, the three individuals were referred to the Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for charges,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Fraud 

• Just after 5:55 p.m. on Dec. 4, there was a report that a fraudulent check was cashed in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. The case is under investigation. 

• An identity theft case reported in the 1400 block of Lewis Street at 10:05 a.m. on Dec. 5 is under investigation. 

 

Burglary 

• A 40-year-old Olympia resident was arrested in the 100 block of West High Street just after 7:10 p.m. on Dec. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he allegedly stole from a store he was trespassed from. 

 

Drug violation 

• A 42-year-old Centralia woman was referred to Centralia Municipal Court on possession of meth charges after officers contacted her as part of an investigation into suspicious activity in the 200 block of North Buckner Street just after 12:25 p.m. on Dec. 5. She was reportedly found inside a vehicle with “several smoking devices commonly used for ingesting narcotics along with a small bindle of suspected methamphetamine,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle accidents 

• A two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest State Avenue just before 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 4. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southeast Fourth Street just after 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 5. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A possible hit-and-run that occurred in the 1000 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue on Nov. 23 was reported just before 1:20 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

 

Theft 

• A rental vehicle was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 4. Charges against a suspect have been referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office. 



• A vehicle prowl reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 4 is under investigation. 

• A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 4. The suspect reportedly broke the vehicle’s passenger window to gain access to the vehicle. 

• A possible vehicle prowl was reported in the 700 block of Southwest 18th Street just after 1:25 a.m. on Dec. 6. 

 

Burglary 

• Just before 10 a.m. on Dec. 4, a burglary to a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue that occurred overnight was reported. 

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 11:05 a.m. on Dec. 4 is under investigation. 

• At 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 4, a caller reported the front door to a closed business in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard was unsecured. 

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:35 a.m. on Dec. 6 is under investigation. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A criminal trespass case reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 11:05 a.m. on Dec. 4 is under investigation. 

• A male subject was reportedly trespassing on a residential porch in the 200 block of Southwest Lewis Street at 7:25 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 5. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 10 a.m. on Dec. 5. 

• A male subject with a knife was reportedly digging through a dumpster in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just before 5:35 p.m. on Dec. 5. The subject was trespassed from the property. 

• One male subject was trespassed from a property in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just before 6:35 p.m. on Dec. 5. 

• A case of criminal trespass reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 5 is under investigation. 

• Subjects were reportedly trespassing under a bridge in the 600 block of Northwest CHamber of Commerce Way just after 5:50 a.m. on Dec. 6. 

 

Scams 

• A scam reported in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 6:35 a.m. on Dec. 5 is under investigation. 

• Scam calls were reported in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 9:40 a.m. on Dec. 5. The scammer reportedly claimed he had photos of the caller he was going to post unless she paid them money. The scammer also claimed “he knows where she works and lives (and) if she doesn’t pay they will hurt her and her family.” 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A disorderly male subject was reportedly throwing sticks at vehicles in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 3:20 p.m. on Dec. 4. 

 

Juvenile problem 

• A “juvenile problem” reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 4:05 p.m. on Dec. 4 is under investigation. 

 

Harassment 

• A caller in the 800 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported receiving threatening text messages from a known female subject in the 800 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 11:10 a.m. on Dec. 5. 

 

Extortion 

• A case of second-degree extortion reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just before 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 5 is under investigation. 

 

Dispute 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 5. 

 

Assault 

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 8:55 p.m. on Dec. 5 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 144 inmates, including 131 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 109 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
