Sirens: Woman defecates along road; man hands officer meth; unaccompanied child sparks CPS involvement

Criminal trespass

• A subject who was sleeping in the back parking lot of a bank in the 600 block of South Market Boulevard just after 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 1 was moved along.

• A man in a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was asked to move along just after 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 1.

• A homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 600 block of Northwest State Avenue at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A man reportedly “throwing paperwork” on a property in the 10 block of South Market Boulevard just before 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A man who was waving his arms and “cussing” at an employee of a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 11:25 p.m. on Aug. 2 was trespassed from the business.

• A homeless man who reportedly tried to open the back door of a coffee shop in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 5:05 a.m. on Aug. 3 was moved along.

• A man holding a tire iron reportedly trespassed at a business in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way at 9:10 a.m. on Aug. 3.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest State Avenue at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 1.

• Injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard just before 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way at approximately 7 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 4.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Aug. 1.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 400 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 7:35 p.m. on Aug. 3.

• A hit-and-run that occurred in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on Aug. 3 was reported just after 5:35 p.m. on Aug. 5.

 

Indecent exposure

• A woman was reportedly seen pulling her pants down and defecating on the shoulder of the roadway in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 1.

• A man was reportedly seen “dropping his pants” in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 7:05 a.m. on Aug. 4.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Just after 4 p.m. on Aug. 1, a citizen at the intersection of Northwest Quincy Place and Northwest Prindle Street reported a subject had asked the caller’s kid if they wanted to buy meth. When an officer called the citizen back, the citizen said “got you,” then hung up.

• Just after 12 a.m. on Aug. 2, a man in the 200 block of West Main Street called to “advise (that) the strip joint place is rude and sexually abusive and he wants his money back.”

• A man was reportedly talking to himself in the 400 block of Northwest Rhode Island Place just after 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A citizen reported a suspicious male was sitting on his mother’s porch in the 600 block of Northwest Folsom Street at 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A citizen reported someone was possibly trying to siphon gas from vehicles in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 5:50 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A man was reportedly approaching cars and “not speaking coherently” in the 400 block of Southeast Hilltop Drive just before 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A man was reportedly laying down on the side of the roadway at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and southbound Interstate 5 just after 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 3.

• A bike and a shopping cart with items inside were reportedly left inside a business in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 6:10 p.m. on Aug. 6.

• A case involving a “suspicious person” reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 7 is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A woman was reportedly “yelling obscenities” in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 2.

• A man was reportedly “yelling at everyone and refusing to leave” a bar in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue just before 9 p.m. on Aug. 2. The man left the bar after the police were called.

 

Found child

• A child between the ages of 3 and 4 was found unaccompanied at a store in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 1. At 6:55 p.m., the child’s mother called to report she hadn’t seen her child in over three hours. She reported she “has seven children and the children told (her) they helped the child get into the vehicle” when they left the store. The child was placed in CPS custody until they could verify information with the mother.

 

Death

• A death reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 8:03 p.m. on Aug. 1 is under investigation.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle tire was reported in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 2.

• A third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Aug. 2 is under investigation.

• Damage to a daycare’s window in the 1800 block of South Market Boulevard was reported at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 4.

• A malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 11:20 a.m. on Aug. 5 is under investigation.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• A dog was reportedly left in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on Aug. 2. The dog’s owner returned to the vehicle at approximately 12:10 p.m.

• A citizen in the 300 block of Northeast Adams Avenue reported “that she heard her neighbor yelling at her dog, and heard the dog yelp,” at 3:35 p.m. on Aug. 3. The same citizen called again just after 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 4 to report the neighbor was slapping the dog. Officers confirmed there was “no indication anyone (was) home” and later spoke to the dogs’ owner, who advised she had been at work since 8 a.m. that day. She denied any animal abuse and advised that her two dogs “bark a lot.”

• A case of animal negligence/abuse reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 4 is under investigation.



Theft

• Attempted shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 2. Officers were asked to trespass the male suspect from the business if they locate him.

• A 1986 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just before 7:55 a.m. on Aug. 4.

• A man was arrested for shoplifting hair clippers, T-shirts and underwear from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Aug. 5.

 

Vehicle prowl

• A phone was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 100 block of Northwest Market Boulevard just before 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 3.

• A man was arrested for prowling vehicles in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court at 8:10 p.m. on Aug. 5.

• A vehicle prowl reported in the 400 block of Northwest Park Street just before 7:05 a.m. on Aug. 6 is under investigation.

 

Disputes

• A dispute was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. The two involved parties advised they were “fighting with (their) dog to stay in the car.”

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 5.

• A client reportedly threatened to harm another client at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 5.

• A client reportedly attacked another client, causing minor injuries, at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 6.

 

Recovered vehicle

• A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 4.

 

Extortion

• A case of second-degree extortion reported in the 100 block of Southwest First Street just after 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 5 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• At 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 6, an employee at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reported that they were “touched inappropriately” by a male client the night prior.

 

DUI

• A subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI in the 800 block of state Route 507 just after 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 6.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Drug violations

• An officer conducted a welfare check on a woman who was “slumped over” inside a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8 a.m. on Aug. 5. While speaking to the woman, 40, of Centralia, an officer “observed suspected narcotics sticking out of (her) sweatshirt.” She was cited for knowing possession of hydrocodone.

• Officers responded to a report of a homeless man laying in the roadway in the 1200 block of North Pearl Street with a dog running loose. Officers located the man, 65, of Centralia, a few blocks away and “questioned him about drug use.” After he reportedly handed an officer suspected meth, the man was cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance.

 

Sexual misconduct

• A case involving “explicit images being sent between a minor and an adult” that was reported in the 400 block of East Main Street at 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 5 is under investigation.

 

Burglary

• A male suspect reportedly entered a fenced area in the 1000 block of South Gold Street just after 11:50 a.m. on Aug. 5 and attempted to gain access to a business building. The case is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Centralia College Boulevard and South Silver Street just after 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 5. One of the involved parties, a 28-year-old Centralia woman, was cited for third-degree driving with a suspended license.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 73-year-old Centralia man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree criminal trespass in the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard at 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 5.

• A 22-year-old Othello man was cited for two counts of first-degree criminal trespass in the 400 block of State Street at 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 6. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant.

 

Theft

• A 25-year-old Centralia man was cited for third-degree theft after he allegedly stole a garbage can from a business in the 1600 block of South Gold Street at 5:50 p.m. on Aug. 5. He was identified via video surveillance footage of his vehicle.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 41 illness-related calls, 11 injury-related calls, 10 fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, six vehicle accidents, two overdoses, one Lifeline medical alert and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 150 inmates, including 137 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 16 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, eight booked by the state Department of Corrections and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
