Sirens: Woman gets prison for stolen handgun; man arrested for drugs; counterfeit bill used to quash bail

Sentencing

• Hailey A. Hanby, 25, Tacoma, was sentenced on Sept. 28 to 22 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count each of firearm theft and escape from community custody. The court dismissed an additional count. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/3bs3fjwy. 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests and citations

• Trevor K. Craig, 26, was issued a criminal citation for alleged possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia near the corner of Southwest Pacific Avenue and Southwest John Street at about 12:28 p.m. Sept. 29.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Jessica L. Braden, 49, Olympia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on two counts of alleged third-degree assault. Officers responded to a welfare check and reported trespass in the 1200 block of Mellen Street at about 12:07 a.m. Oct. 1. They found Braden, who had reportedly been acting disorderly outside a business. Braden showed signs of alcohol intoxication. An officer transported her to a family member’s residence upon her request. As she was exiting his patrol car, Braden allegedly attempted to grab the officer, and then kicked the officer as he blocked her hands. After being taken to jail, Braden allegedly kicked a deputy in the face and attempted to bite several others.

Criminal trespass

• Don K. Gonzales, 37, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 1:03 p.m. Oct. 1.

Drug violation

• Nathan C. Feasel, 54, Chehalis, was arrested and released with a criminal citation for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia near Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 at about 8:47 a.m. Oct. 1.

• Kevin R. Kemp, 46, Centralia, was arrested and released with a criminal citation for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the 700 block of South Tower Avenue at about 9:15 a.m. Oct. 1.

• Raymond C. Claypoole, 46, Rochester, was arrested and released with a criminal citation for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 4:13 p.m. Oct. 1.



DUI

• David Acevedo-Olivera, 33, Chehalis, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol near the corner of North Tower Avenue and East Main Street at about 2:16 a.m. Oct. 2.

Malicious mischief

• Aleyna Shaw, 29, Olympia, was arrested for malicious mischief and obstruction after she allegedly damaged another person’s vehicle in the 900 block of B Street at about 11:24 a.m. Sept. 30. Shaw allegedly ran from police after they told her she was being detained. Police booked Shaw into the Chehalis Tribal Jail.

Suspicious circumstances

• Authorities contacted an individual at the Centralia Police Department at about 10:40 a.m. Sept. 30 after she allegedly attempted to quash a warrant with a counterfeit $100 bill. The woman then paid with a legitimate $100 bill and was able to quash her warrant.

Theft

• Kenneth Butler, 60, Toledo, was referred for charges of felony theft in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:32 a.m. Sept. 30 after police identified him as the suspect who allegedly stole from multiple locations over the last several weeks.

• Jacob Looney, 46, Centralia, was arrested for allegedly stealing a shopping cart from a local business at the corner of West First Street and Euclid Way at about 10:47 a.m. Sept. 30. Officers booked Looney into the Chehalis Tribal Jail.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Oct. 2, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 136 inmates, including 123 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 105 were reported male and 18 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Oct. 2, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 15 inmates. Of those, three were from Centralia and six were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were four from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Chehalis Tribal Court and the Tulalip Tribe.
