Sirens: Woman provided clothing after indecent exposure report; 'Walking around with a machete'; 'Squatting' at a vacant house

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• A 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 2200 block of Sirkka Avenue just before 9:35 a.m. on Sept. 22 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. Charges for rendering criminal assistance and obstructing were referred to the prosecutor’s office for a 34-year-old Centralia woman. 

• A 40-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 400 block of Girard Street at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Sept. 23 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• At 10:05 a.m. on Sept. 22, there was a report of a woman near a park in the 100 block of South Silver Street “exposing herself and putting her hands down her pants near her private parts.” An officer contacted the subject, a homeless woman from Centralia, who was “partially clothed.” With assistance from another bystander, the officer got the woman additional clothing and asked her to move along. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and East Locust Street just before 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of West Reynolds Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• Just after 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 22, there was a report of homeless people camping on private property in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue just after 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 22. When the owner asked the subjects to leave, they reportedly “yelled at him before leaving the area.” Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the involved persons. 

 

Theft 

• At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Sept. 22, a 14-foot cargo trailer was reported stolen from the 1100 block of F Street sometime within the past day. 

• An unidentified female subject reportedly stole merchandise from a shoe outlet in the 100 block of West High Street at 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 22 and fled in a purple Honda Passport. 

• An unidentified male subject reportedly stole at least two pairs of shoes from an outlet in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 6:35 p.m. on Sept. 22 and fled on foot. 

• Three juvenile males were referred to the prosecutor’s office for taking items from a porch in the 800 block of J Street and breaking them just before 11:05 a.m. on Sept. 23. 

• Just after 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, vehicle prowls to three vehicles in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue were reported. Each vehicle reportedly had its windows damaged and had items stolen from inside. 

• A subject in the 100 block of West Maple Street reported their work phone was stolen in Portland at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 23 and asked police to “get the phone shut off.” 

 

Sexual misconduct 

• A sexual assault reported in the 1400 block of West Reynolds Avenue at 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 23 is under investigation. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• At approximately 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 23, a caller reported there was “someone yelling in her neighborhood” in the 2900 block of Mt. Vista Road. 

 

Dispute 

• Just before 8 p.m. on Sept. 23, a woman reported “she got spit on” in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue. The case is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• Just before 8:05 p.m. on Sept. 23, a family reported they arrived at their home in the 1700 block of Winterwood Drive and noticed their front door was open. Officers conducted a building search and did not locate anyone. “It was established no crime was committed,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Public assist 

• A woman who “did not want to stay and wait at (the) hospital” in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road was transported to a shelter at 11 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Suspicious circumstances 

• A suspicious vehicle reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 7:55 a.m. on Sept. 22 is under investigation. 

• A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 1600 block of Southwest Kelly Avenue at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Sept. 22. 

• An unidentified subject was reportedly selling puppies out of a gray truck in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

• At approximately 10:10 p.m. on Sept. 22, a caller reported hearing a “screaming child” in the 10 block of Southwest Ninth Street about 20 minutes prior. 

• A suspicious subject was reportedly “in the apple trees” outside a property in the 1300 block of Northwest Airport Road just after 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 23. 

• A male subject was reportedly “walking around the parking lot with a machete” in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

• Suspicious circumstances reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 23 are under investigation. 

• A male subject was reportedly “casing everyone’s vehicles” in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard at 11 a.m. on Sept. 24. 



 

Scams 

• A scam involving possible identity theft and money laundering was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Ninth Street just after 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 22. 

• A scam reported in the 300 block of Southwest 10th Street just before 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 22 is under investigation. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• Two subjects were reportedly trespassing on railroad property at the intersection of Northwest Front Street and Northwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 22. 

• Just after 3:35 p.m. on Sept. 22, a caller asked that a subject associated with a “70s purple van” be trespassed from the property. 

• At 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 22, a caller reported there was a male subject “setting up camp under (her) house” in the 200 block of Southwest Lewis Street. 

• A woman who was “bothering customers” outside a business in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:25 a.m. on Sept. 23 was trespassed from the property.  

• Homeless people were reportedly “squatting” at a vacant house at the intersection of Southwest Seventh Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue just after 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

• Two subjects were reportedly “wandering around in (a) construction site” in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

• A homeless man was reportedly camping in the doorway of an apartment stairwell in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 24. 

• A subject accused of breaking into a business in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 24 was trespassed from the property. 

• A woman who refused to leave a property in the 900 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 10:50 p.m. on Sept. 24 was moved along. 

• Subjects were reportedly trespassing at a vacant property in the 100 block of Southeast Adams Avenue just before 12:35 a.m. on Sept. 25. 

 

Harassment 

• Just after 11:25 a.m. on Sept. 22, a caller reported he was being harassed by a relative in the 1500 block of Southwest Kelly Avenue. The reporting party was advised to file for a no contact order. 

• A case of harassment reported in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just after 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 22 is under investigation. 

 

Assault 

• A custodial assault that occurred at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street on Aug. 26 was reported at 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

 

Theft 

• Just after 2:05 p.m. on Sept. 22, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 300 block of Southwest 15th Street sometime overnight was reported. The vehicle’s title and registration were reported missing. 

• A possible vehicle theft was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

• A shoplift was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Sept. 23. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard just before 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue just after 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court at 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 23. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 24. 

• A 13-year-old male was injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue just after 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 24. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and South Market Boulevard just after 2:50 a.m. on Sept. 25. 

 

Dispute 

• A possible dispute involving two subjects “throwing clothes” was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 2:25 p.m. on Sept. 22. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 164 inmates, including 151 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 116 were reported male and 35 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
