Sirens: Woman punches child; contraband found at Green Hill; boy informed of 'dangers of the internet' after porn found

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Child abuse/neglect

• A citizen reported a woman was hitting children inside a vehicle in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at approximately 9:30 a.m. on July 19. The reporting party advised the woman was striking a child with a closed fist. The child reportedly tried to exit the vehicle, but the woman pulled him back inside and shut the door.

 

Green Hill School

• Contraband was reported at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 1:55 p.m. on July 19.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A motorcyclist reported injuries after he crashed into a pole at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 9:05 p.m. on July 19.

• A vehicle accident with injuries reported that occurred in the 8100 block of northbound Interstate 5 just after 7:40 a.m. on July 21 is under investigation.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest West Street at 8:15 a.m. on July 22.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on July 22.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident that occurred in the 400 block of Northeast Adams Avenue on July 17 was reported just after 9:25 p.m. on July 23.

 

Hit-and-run

• Just after 12:40 p.m. on July 19, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 300 block of Northwest North Street the day prior was reported. 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 11:10 a.m. on July 20.

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard just before 8 p.m. on July 23 is under investigation.

 

Fraud

• A possible scam involving someone claiming the victim hit their car and telling them to pay for the damage was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1 p.m. on July 19.

• A possible phone scam was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 10:10 a.m. on July 22.

• A scam reported in the 700 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue just after 4:45 a.m. on July 23 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault at a playground in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at approximately 12:45 p.m. on July 21.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A woman was reportedly “screaming and throwing her arms” in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard at 1:35 p.m. on July 22.

• A woman was reportedly hitting herself in the head and yelling “leave me alone” in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:35 p.m. on July 22.

 

Dispute

• A possible physical dispute between a father and a son involving property damage was reported in the 10 block of Southeast 16th Street just after 1:55 p.m. on July 22.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• A dog that seemed to be in distress was reported inside a locked vehicle in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m. on July 22.

 

Theft

• An attempted shoplift was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:15 p.m. on July 22.

• Two thefts were reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:20 p.m. on July 23.



• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana avenue just after 6:05 p.m. on July 23.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Possible pornography was found on a 13-year-old boy’s phone in the 200 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at 8:45 p.m. on July 19. Officers determined the child and his friends had accessed a Discord chat that contained pornography. The child was “informed on (the) danger of the internet.”

• A possible attempted burglary to a hotel room was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at 2:45 a.m. on July 20. The reporting party said three to five men were trying to break into her hotel room with a screwdriver. Officers and hotel staff confirmed no one was near the room and there was no damage to the door.

• A possible attempted burglary to a hotel room was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 2:55 a.m. on July 21. The reporting party advised a man in a hat was trying to break into someone else’s hotel room. Hotel staff confirmed no one was seen on the security cameras.

• A citizen in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court reported that three people were outside his apartment just before 3:35 a.m. on July 21. He later said he “thinks it was just the neighbors laughing.”

• A man at the intersection of Northeast North Street and North Market Boulevard reported someone was chasing him with a gun at approximately 4 a.m. on July 23. Officers responded and found the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was given a ride to a local shelter.

• A report of a “suspicious person” in the 200 block of Southwest John Street just after 2:30 p.m. on July 20 is under investigation.

 

Panhandling

• Two subjects were warned for panhandling at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just before 10:45 a.m. on July 23.

 

Indecent exposure

• Just after 11:55 a.m. on July 23, a case of indecent exposure involving a juvenile who exposed herself to another juvenile in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue on July 21 was reported.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless camp was reported behind a business in the 500 block of West Main Street just after 6:40 a.m. on July 22.

• Three men were trespassed from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:40 p.m. on July 23.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1100 block of South Pearl Street just before 4:35 p.m. on July 22.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 40-year-old Tacoma man who was “wandering through” a private residential property in the 400 block of Denny Way at approximately 7:35 p.m. on July 22 was trespassed from the property.

 

Animal problem

• A dog was found at a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 7:10 a.m. on July 23. The dog was secured and taken to a kennel.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 43 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, nine fire-related calls, six non-emergency service calls, two vehicle accidents and one other call.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 133 inmates, including 120 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 102 were reported male and 18 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 16 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
