Sirens: Woman says she can't be arrested, police disagree; driver crashes into home; drug violations at W.F. West; man in underwear runs through lawn — twice

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 14.

• Mail was reported stolen from the 400 block of West Roanoke Street at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 14.

• A 29-year-old Olympia man was arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 3:40 a.m. on Oct. 15.

• A 28-year-old Olympia woman was arrested for stealing jewelry and a watch from a store in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue just after 4 p.m. on Oct. 15. After she was detained, she reportedly “claimed that, based on their experience in Olympia, they could not be arrested unless the theft was a felony. This proved to be incorrect,” the Centralia Police Department said in a news release.

• A vehicle theft reported in the 500 block of North Gold Street just before 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 16 is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless person was trespassed from private property in the 300 block of North Gold Street at 2:55 p.m. on Oct. 15.

 

DUI

• A 23-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for DUI after she crashed into a residence in the 1600 block of North Pearl Street just before 12:10 a.m. on Oct. 16. No injuries were reported.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7:25 a.m. on Oct. 16 is under investigation.

• A hit-and-run reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road just before 8 a.m. on Oct. 16 is under investigation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Drug violations

• A W.F. West High School student reportedly had marijuana at school in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just before 8:55 a.m. on Oct. 11.

• A controlled substance was found at W.F. West High School in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street at approximately 10:25 a.m. on Oct. 14.

• A drug violation reported at W.F. West High School in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just after 1:50 p.m. on Oct. 15 is under investigation.

 

Fraud

• A scam in which the scammer told a woman she won $300 million and had her meet him in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reported at 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 11. 

• Non-specific fraud reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 14 is under investigation.

• Return fraud was reported at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 14.

 

Criminal trespass

• Two adults and two children who were acting disorderly and yelling at employees were trespassed from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 11.

• A subject who was loitering on the front porch of a residence in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street just before 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 11 was moved along.

• At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Oct. 12, a resident in the 10 block of Southwest Fourth Street reported an unidentified subject was sleeping inside the resident’s car and had urinated on the resident’s patio. The subject was moved along. The resident did not want to press charges, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A woman was reportedly dumpster diving in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 12.

• A man reportedly stole a shopping cart from the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 6:55 p.m. on Oct. 12. He later returned the cart and was trespassed from the business.

• A man was trespassed from a residential patio in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 12.

• A subject reportedly trespassed at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 13.

• At 11:35 a.m. on Oct. 13, a resident in the 500 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue reported someone was trying the door handle to her basement and was throwing things around in her yard.

• A disorderly woman wielding a fire extinguisher was trespassed from a bar in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 4 p.m. on Oct. 13. The business reported the fire extinguisher did not belong to them.

• Three subjects were reportedly dumpster diving in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 13.

• Two men who were “passing a crack pipe back and forth” in front of a business in the 500 block of West Main Street at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 were trespassed from the business.

• A criminal trespass was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 12:40 a.m. on Oct. 16.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A man reportedly lit the grass on fire beside the roadway at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest West Street at approximately 9 p.m. on Oct. 11.



• At approximately 3 p.m. on Oct. 13, a resident in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street reported a man wearing nothing but underwear ran through the resident’s lawn twice at noon that day.

• A citizen reported seeing a “funny object” that “looks like a bomb” on the ground between the train tracks and the roadway at the intersection of Southwest Pacific Avenue and Southwest John Street at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 13.

 

Vicious dog

• A report of a vicious dog in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 10:55 a.m. on Oct. 12 is under investigation.

 

Harassment

• A vendor selling Trump merchandise in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reportedly threatened to hit someone with a hammer at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 12.

• Just after 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 12, a woman in the 600 block of North National Avenue reported that unidentified people intended to rape her and were going to “give (her) a fentanyl shot and if they didn’t do it, they will kill her cats.”

• A resident in the 1300 block of Northwest Airport Road reported his neighbor and the neighbor’s two children, aged 5 and 15, threatened to kill the reporting party just after 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 13. The 5-year-old was reportedly heard saying “when he grows up, he’s going to kill (the reporting party).”

• Harassment reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 14 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A male subject reportedly stole a couple of watches from a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 12.

• Subjects were arrested for stealing a motorcycle in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard at 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 13. They reportedly took the motorcycle and put it into a tree service van.

• A subject was cited for not returning a U-Haul in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:10 a.m. on Oct. 15.

• A possible vehicle prowl to an unlocked car was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:35 p.m. on Oct. 15. One quarter was reported missing. The reporting party did not want to press charges, “she just wanted to advise us for information that someone is prowling cars in the daytime,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.

 

Assault

• A subject was arrested for second-degree assault after they allegedly assaulted their roommate with a machete in the 100 block of Northeast School Street at 2:05 p.m. on Oct. 13.

 

DUI

• A man was arrested for DUI after he was involved in a hit-and-run at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 13.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest West Street and Northwest State Avenue just after 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 14.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A customer was reportedly “being disgruntled and causing issues” at a business in the 10 block of South Market Boulevard just after 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 14.

 

Malicious mischief

• Third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 14 is under investigation.

 

Dispute

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard just after 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 15.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 48 illness-related calls, 10 injury-related calls, nine fire-related calls, two Lifeline medical alerts, four non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, one overdose, one medical helicopter request and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 153 inmates, including 140 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 13 inmates, including six booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement and three booked by the Lummi Nation.
