Rainier allowed six runs in the first two innings and was unable to come all the way back in 7-5, non-league road loss to Eatonville on Monday.

The Mountaineers out-hit the Cruisers 8-6, but Eatonville was able to plate three runs in each of the first two innings, which proved to be all the runs it would need to hand Rainier the loss.

Rainier was led offensively by Hunter Howell, who went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Ethan Gonzalez was 2 for 4, Johnny Boesch went 1 for 4 with two RBIs and a run and Ryder Cruse walked four times.

On the mound, Cruse pitched one hitless and scoreless inning with a strikeout, while Gavin Owen allowed one earned run on two hits and four walks with two Ks. Howell surrendered one earned run on four hits with one K across four innings.

Rainier (3-7) will look to turn things around when it hosts Wahkiakum at 4 p.m. on Thursday
