After struggling to get through the Bobcats’ defense, the Tigers finally found a goal off a set piece that Trinity Smith got her foot on in the 74th minute that gave them a 1-0 victory on Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.

Centralia (4-4, 2-0 EvCo) have pitched two shutouts in two league matches so far. Keeper Nena Venegas-Minor had five saves and head coach Luis Magana stated she made each save count “because she definitely kept us in the game.”

“Those final minutes felt (like) forever and Aberdeen had their most offensive (chances),” Magana said.

Cyndal Sills connected with Smith on a corner kick to break the scoreless match. The Tigers had nine shots and will travel to Black Hills on Thursday in a vital league match.

“Happy with the couple of league games, but the season is halfway through,” Magana said. “We still have a lot of room for improvement.”
