The Southwest Washington Mycological Society, a club focused on local mushrooms that is headquartered in Lewis County, will host a membership meeting at the WSU Extension office, 17 SW Cascade Ave. in Chehalis on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m.

“Our topics this month include … discussion of future direction. We also have some bylaw changes that will be discussed and need to be presented before voting on the changes at the next general meeting in February,” wrote Joel Black, club organizer in an email to The Chronicle.

The group will also discuss an upcoming multi-day online event called West Coast Online MycoBlitz, to take place Jan. 13 through Jan. 19. The educational program will be centered around winter mushrooms, according to Black.

Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting and is encouraged to bring mushrooms from around the area for identification. Members will also have the opportunity to pay annual dues.

“Come and discover what's growing in your yard. Who knows? You might have an edible one,” Black wrote in the email. “We look forward to seeing you.”
