Down by a run heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Centralia softball team needed every timely hit they could get to eventually come back and defeat Hoquiam in eight innings Tuesday afternoon on the road, 6-5.

In the bottom of the seventh, a Judy Vallejo single scored Gracie Schofield from first to tie the game up, and after Payton Baumel and her defense held the Grizzlies in check in the top of the extra eighth inning, Brooklyn Sprague walked it off with a hard line drive to center field, scoring Hollynn Wakefield from third for the win.

Sprague finished 2 for 2 with the game-winning RBI, Schofield added a 2 for 4 line with a run scored and two RBIs, and Wakefield scored two runs and went 1 for 2 with an RBI.

In the circle, Peyton Smith got the start and went three innings, allowing six hits with just three earned runs and two strikeouts. Baumel relieved Smith to throw five innings, allowing one earned run on just three hits with two walks.

The Tigers (1-0) take on Toutle Lake on the road Friday for their next matchup in another non-league contest at 4 p.m.
