Spring Chinook Salmon Fishing to Reopen on Columbia River

Oregon and Washington will reopen spring chinook fishing on most of the jointly managed Columbia River on Friday.

Managers met by telephone Wednesday and opted for a cautious reopening of sport fishing after counts dramatically increased over Bonneville Dam the past few days.

The reopening will last until next Wednesday, May 24, with the same rules as before: Tongue Point to the Oregon/Washington border, one hatchery chinook salmon (hatchery summer steelhead is open from Tongue Point to the Interstate 5 Bridge).

Biologists will meet again next Wednesday to consider additional fishing.
