Ricardo Ortega delivered a go-ahead goal in the 74th minute to lead the South Puget Sound Community College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Centralia College on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The Clippers had to come back from behind after Centralia College’s Diego Guillen found the back of the net first in the 22nd minute. Tristan Aguirre connected on the tying goal off an assist by Casey Smith in the 30th minute, and the 1-1 score held through halftime and into the 74th minute.
Ortega, a freshman from Everett, picked a great time for his first collegiate goal, as his unassisted shot put SPSCC ahead for good. The Clippers have won consecutive games for the first time this season.
SPSCC (3-10-2, 3-8-2 NWAC) will look to keep rolling when it hosts Pierce College on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Centralia College (7-6-3, 5-6-2 NWAC) will look to snap a four-game losing streak on the road at Tacoma Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
