State auditor gives Lewis County clean audit

A recent analysis by the Washington state Auditor’s Office did “not identify any concerns with county processes” and found that “the county complied in all material aspects of the audit.”

According to a news release from the county, the state audit examined financial records and statements from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2022, and did not return any findings of wrongdoing.

“The county also received a clean audit in regard to compliance with federal grant requirements,” lead auditor Melissa Dixon told the Lewis County commissioners, according to the release. “All monies were expended within intended purposes.”

The county will undergo an accountability audit later this year to assure county policy and procedures comply with Washington state law.

“The clean state audit report is a testament to our staff and how careful they are with our tax dollars,” Commissioner Lindsey Pollock said in the release.
