State Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia, was selected to serve on the House Capital Budget, Environment and Energy, and State Government and Tribal Relations committees for his second term in the state House.

He was additionally selected to serve as the ranking Republican on the State Government and Tribal Relations Committee, a committee he had not previously served on. He will also continue serving as an assistant ranking member on the Capital Budget Committee, a position he shared during his first term with his 19th Legislative District colleague state Rep. Joel McEntire, R-Cathlamet. Abbarno will no longer serve on the House Civil Rights and Judiciary Committee, which he served on during his first term.

The State Government and Tribal Relations Committee has jurisdiction over matters related to the internal operations of the state government as well as issues related to Native Americans.

The Capital Budget Committee oversees the state capital budget, which addresses public buildings and long-term investments as well as grants and loans to local governments and nonprofit organizations.

The Environment and Energy Committee works on matters related to environmental issues such as air quality, climate change and hazardous waste.

“The committees I serve on have an important and direct impact on the citizens of the 20th Legislative District and Southwest Washington,” said Abbarno. “I look forward to working on real solutions for communities and working families. These committees provide an opportunity to create economic growth and improve the quality of life for all Washingtonians.”
