State Route 508 Near Bear Canyon Closed For 45 Minutes Due to Brush Fire on Tuesday

State Route 508 was closed in both directions at milepost 21.4 near Bear Canyon Road in Lewis County for approximately 45 minutes on Tuesday due to a brush fire in the area. 

Emergency response and Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews were on site, according to a news release sent out by WSDOT when the closure began just after 8:15 p.m. on July 4. 



The road was reopened by 9 p.m. on July 4. 

“Please do your part to prevent fires,” WSDOT stated in a news release announcing the opening of the roadway. “Travelers are advised to exercise utmost caution while driving, due to extremely hot and dry weather conditions throughout the state.”
