The Strophy Foundation has contracted its first home, specifically designated for participants of the Thurston County Therapeutic Courts.

Named "Gratitude & Grace Sober Living," this residence represents a crucial step forward in one of the foundation's missions to provide clean and sober housing in the community, the foundation said Thursday in a news release.

The foundation took possession of Gratitude & Grace Sober Living on Dec. 1.

Sober Housing will operate the facility.

“The achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication of Sarah Morris, whose tireless efforts over the past two years played a pivotal role in turning this dream into reality,” the Strophy Foundation stated in the news release, calling Morris’s ability to navigate challenges and persuade a landlord to embrace the “Sober Living Homes" concept “commendable.”

Megan Buchanan, president of the Strophy Foundation Board of Directors, has also been a driving force behind this project, the foundation stated.

“Her tenacity and drive propelled the initiative forward and challenged the board to embrace new opportunities, opening doors for the foundation and the community it serves,” the Strophy Foundation stated in the news release.

Janice Talcott, who the Stophy Foundation called “renowned for her fundraising prowess,” has been instrumental in transforming the Strophy Foundation, the foundation stated.

“Her skills have played a crucial role in making the idea of the Strophy Foundation supporting housing for the Therapeutic Courts a tangible reality,” the Strophy Foundation said in the news release.

Located in Olympia, the Strophy Foundation is “a vital force in supporting the Thurston County therapeutic court programs,” the foundation stated in a news release. These programs, covering areas such as veterans, mental health, family recovery, safe baby and Drug and DUI courts, receive state, federal and grant funding yet often face critical funding gaps. The Strophy Foundation bridges these gaps, ensuring no participant faces failure due to unmet essential needs, such as proper shoes for a new job, childcare during an interview, or obtaining a GED certificate.

Olympia Sober Housing has served as a clean and sober housing provider in Thurston County since 2016 and is one of three housing providers certified by the Washington Alliance of Quality Recovery Residences in Thurston County.

“Our dedicated mission is to offer high-quality, structured housing to individuals on the path to recovery from addiction,” the organization stated in a news release.
