Bearcat Thrift, the student-run thrift store at W.F. West High School, celebrated its grand reopening Wednesday morning.
Senior Avery Brundage founded and launched the thrift store last April under the guidance of teacher adviser Alison Clinton. Brundage is now continuing the project this fall.
Bearcat Thrift provides inexpensive clothing to students in need while promoting sustainability in an effort to minimize the environmental impacts of fast fashion.
Other items, like school-related clothing, are available for free.
Money raised from the store goes to student organizations such as FFA, SkillsUSA and other clubs on campus.
“It always goes back to the kids, which was really important to do,” Clinton said at the store’s launch last spring.
Those interested in donating clothes, shoes or accessories can email bearcatthrift@chehalisschools.org.
Students can also make donations inside the store.
Bearcat Thrift is currently open at W.F. West on select Wednesdays. To learn more about store hours, visit Bearcat Thrift’s Instagram page at bearcat.thrift.
