The sky over Centralia will sparkle once again this Independence Day as the Fourth of July Fireworks Show is set for 10:20 p.m. on Friday, July 4, at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds.
The Centralia Downtown Association made the announcement in a news release on Wednesday morning. It marks a return of an Independence Day favorite in the Twin Cities, one that has traditionally been held to conclude Summerfest activities on the Fourth of July.
Lewis County, which manages the fairgrounds, announced earlier this year that the fireworks show had been canceled, sparking reminders from the Centralia Downtown Association that the rest of the Summerfest schedule would unfold nonetheless.
But now, the fireworks show is back on, though the annual demolition derby has been canceled. The Lewis County Demolition Derby Association was dissolved in 2024.
The association stated in a news release that the fireworks show was returning thanks to the sponsorhip of GESA Credit Union.
The fireworks show will be professionally carried out by Wolverine West Fireworks, promising a vibrant and safe display for all to enjoy. While the fairgrounds will be closed to the public, the fireworks will be visible for miles, providing a stunning show for viewers across the region.
The Centralia Downtown Association reminds the community that personal fireworks are strictly prohibited in private lots, roadsides or public areas surrounding the fairgrounds, located at 1909 S. Gold St. in Centralia.
These restrictions are in place to protect neighborhoods, prevent fire hazards and ensure the professional show can be enjoyed safely by all.
Summerfest 2025 events include a 5K fun run, pancake breakfast, field activities, family fun, live music, face painting, a magician, the annual parade and much more throughout all of downtown Centralia. Learn more at https://downtowncentralia.org.
