Suspect arrested following fatal ‘shooting incident’ in Pe Ell area; Few details released

A suspect is in custody following a fatal “shooting incident” in the Pe Ell area near the intersection of state Route 6 and Katula Road, the Washington State Patrol announced Thursday, Aug. 17. 

The suspect has not been identified by law enforcement. 

The incident reportedly occurred sometime before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, though that time has not been confirmed by law enforcement. 



The victim was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment but later died, according to Washington State Patrol. 

A Lewis County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson has confirmed the Washington State Patrol is the lead agency in the investigation into the shooting. Washington State Patrol has not responded to The Chronicle’s requests for information. 

The suspect had not been booked into the Lewis County Jail as of 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, according to jail records.
