Suspect in string of Portland burglaries indicted on 22 new charges

A grand jury on Oct. 7 indicted a 43-year-old man on 22 burglary charges — adding to a slew of earlier charges from different burglaries in Portland.

The new charges against Jeremiah Allen Morgan, of Portland, include first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree aggravated theft, second-degree theft and criminal mischief.

He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges on Tuesday.

These charges come months after Morgan was indicted on 15 separate charges in a series of burglaries between February and March 2025. He also pleaded not guilty to those charges.

The October indictment stems from a police investigation that analyzed video surveillance footage from multiple Portland businesses that had break-ins, including at the 82nd Avenue Bar & Grill at 5028 Southeast 82nd Avenue on Dec. 9, 2024, a Natural Grocers at 3975 Southeast Powell Boulevard on Dec. 27, 2024, and at The Cheerful Bullpen at 1730 Southwest Taylor Boulevard on Jan. 1, 2025, court records state.

Morgan also hit the Pine State Biscuits at 1717 Northwest 23rd Avenue on Jan. 1, 2025, the Spirits Pub at 4037 Northeast Cully Boulevard and the Ship Tavern at 7827 Southwest 35th Avenue on Jan. 4, and the Bullseye Pub at 4835 Southwest Pomona Street on Jan. 17, court records allege.

Morgan and another male suspect who isn’t identified in court records allegedly used crowbars to pry into the businesses before attempting to bust into safes and desks, court records show.

Court documents don’t report any cash stolen in many of the burglaries. The suspects allegedly did more than $1,000 in damage at one business and stole more than $10,000 from another.

Morgan is also facing charges of methamphetamine and cocaine possession in a separate case from March and seven charges of identity theft from a case in December 2024, court records show.
