Lewis County Commissioner Sean Swope and Democrat challenger Damian Bean will square off in the general election in a race to represent District 1 on the board.

Updated results released Thursday afternoon showed Bean with 1,812 votes in the race, 102 more than Peter Lahmann, who sits in third place. According to the auditor’s office, there are only an estimated 10 ballots left to count.

Twenty voters have submitted ballots with a write-in candidate in the race.

The top two vote-getters advance to the general election, where they will battle to represent District 1 on the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners. Unlike the primary election, the race will open up to voters across Lewis County during the general election.

When the initial results were released Tuesday night, Bean placed second with 28.12%, or 1,326 votes, while Lahmann narrowly trailed Bean with 25.92% or 1,222 votes.

According to the auditor’s office, voter turnout sits at 44.29% in Lewis County. The auditor’s office has counted 24,592 votes in the August primary out of 55,524 registered voters.

Fellow incumbent Lindsey Pollock continues to lead challenger Christina Riley with 59.16% of the vote, though both candidates are certain to advance to the general election.

The three fire districts that ran levies during the primary election — Packwood, Napavine and Riverside — continue to pass with broad support, with more than 60% of voters supporting each.

The results from the August primary will be certified on Aug. 20. The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
