T-Birds clinch EvCo title with win over Highclimbers

The Tumwater softball team officially clinched the EvCo title on Friday, defeating Shelton 17-2 on the road to seal it.

The T-Birds took control instantly, scoring four runs in the top of the first and four more in the second. They added two more in the fourth and seven more in the fifth.

Brielle Womach went 3 for 3 with a home run and four runs batted in, while Sarah Stevens also hit a home run and drove in a pair.

Jamie Haase added three hits and five RBIs, and Erika Schock drove in two runs and scored two more.

Ella Ferguson threw the first three innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight, and Stevens pitched the final two innings.

Tumwater (15-3, 13-2 2A EvCo) will be the league’s No. 1 seed in the upcoming district tournament and will face Columbia River in a district quarterfinal on Thursday at Recreation Park.

Before that, the T-Birds will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday in Lacey against Timberline.
