The Tumwater boys basketball team led narrowly at halftime but couldn’t keep things going after the break in its first test at the SunDome Shootout in Yakima on Thursday, losing 54-46 to Port Angeles.

After going into halftime up 30-27, the T-Birds gave up an 18-9 run in the third quarter, and Port Angeles salted things away with a low-scoring fourth.

Clay Morgan had 12 points to lead Tumwater and was the only T-Bird in double figures. Jacob Dillon added nine points, and Nolan Campbell and Beckett Wall both scored seven.

The Thunderbirds will face Grandview on Friday in another matchup in Yakima.
