T-Birds grounded in loss to Tigers

The Tumwater Thunderbirds never got off the ground on Friday, as they lost 4-0 at home against 4A Battle Ground.

It’s the end of a four-game winning streak for the Tumwater, who were shutout for the first time this season.

The Tigers took the lead in the first and added a second in the third, and insurance runs in the sixth and seventh helped them ice it.

Four different Thunderbirds pitched, with Will Bond getting the most time on the bump. He went three innings, allowing two hits and one run while walking two and striking out one.

He also was the only Thunderbird to register multiple hits, as he went 2 for 3 at the plate with a pair of singles.

The T-Birds are back in action on Friday, April 5, when they’ll host Aberdeen in the first of a two-game league series.
