T-Birds Hold On to Beat Prairie, 7-5

After building up a six-run lead in the top of the fifth inning over Prairie on the road, the Tumwater baseball team nearly gave it up at the end, allowing four unanswered in the fifth and seventh innings, but slammed the door to hold on, 7-5.

The Thunderbirds got a trio of batters with two RBI, led by Kyler Collier, Brayden Oram, and Alex Overbay. A balanced scoring effort led the T-Bird charge, with Tumwater scoring in the first six innings of the game before its bats went cold in the sixth and seventh.

After giving up three runs in the seventh, Overbay closed it out, striking out Sam Apodaca to close the game out.

The T-Birds will take on Black Hills in their league opener on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at home.
