Another year, another undefeated league season for Tumwater.
The T-Birds capped off another perfect EvCo campaign on Tuesday in Tumwater, topping Centralia 5-0 on the turf at Black Hills High School.
The game was moved due to power issues at Tumwater District Stadium.
The Thunderbirds will enter the district tournament as the EvCo’s No. 1 seed with an overall record of 11-4-1, and they will host Woodland in a district quarterfinal on Saturday.
Centralia’s Nena Venegas-Minor made six saves, and Peyton Thurman had four saves of her own.
With a playoff spot locked up, Centralia coach Luis Magana used Tuesday as a chance for some younger players to step in and get experience against the league’s top team.
“I definitely appreciated the effort the girls gave even with the scoreboard being one sided,” Magana said.
Centralia finishes as the EvCo’s No. 4 seed at 6-10 overall and 4-6 in EvCo play, and the Tigers will head south for a pigtail for the third year in a row.
They lost in the pigtail in both 2023 and 2024, but Magana is confident this group could be the one to break through.
“We got one day to prep for the most important match of the season,” Magana said. “I am happy we have been consistently battling for a top four spot, now I am just hoping we can finally get over this hump.”
Centralia will head to Longview to face R.A. Long on Thursday.
