The Tumwater girls basketball team got back in the win column for the first time in nearly a month on Thursday, defeating Centralia 58-27.
It was all T-Birds from the jump, as they took a double-digit lead in the first before extending it to over 20 at halftime. The win snapped Tumwater’s seven-game losing streak, as it’s the team’s first win since Dec. 10 against Todd Beamer.
Sydney Sumrok led Tumwater with 18 points, while Anden Demaris scored 12 and Reece Brewer scored nine.
Maddie Ahern led Centralia with eight points, Ayana Saucedo scored seven, and Brooklyn Sprague scored six.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Tigers (4-6,0-2 2A EvCo), who will head to Elma on Friday for a non-league match. Tumwater (3-9, 1-1 2A EvCo) will make the short trip to Black Hills on Tuesday.
