An eight-game stretch of wins from Tumwater’s baseball team came to a screeching halt on Friday night as Shelton secured a 5-3 non-league victory in Tumwater.

Four runs in the top of the fifth allowed the Highclimbers to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 cushion. They tied the game on a sacrifice fly, grabbed the lead on a bases loaded walk and capped the frame with runs scoring on a balk and a wild pitch.

The Thunderbirds (13-4) led 1-0 after two innings and 2-1 after three. Peyton Davis roped an RBI double to kick off the scoring and Eddie Marson recorded a run-scoring single in the third. Will Bond, saddled with the loss, had two doubles at the plate.

Tumwater will have a week off before facing W.F. West in a non-league game next Friday at Bob Peters Field.
